I'm in GIS. I've been offered funding from Penn State (RA) and UGA (TA). Do any of you guys know the strengths/weaknesses of these two departments? I'm more inclined towards Penn State since it is considered to have a better program. I know Penn State has geoVista Center but not entirely sure what it has been focusing on.

For those applied to Penn State, offers were being sent out starting last week, from my past experience, rejections should come out earlier than that. If anyone here is interested in attending geography @ Penn state, let's chat about the program/living/future plans~

Anyone got news from Penn State? I heard from them a month ago that they were about to make decisions but haven't gotten any updates

I haven't heard from OSU, I guess I'm waitlisted. Always have hope though!

From other people that replied my post. I hope so, maybe it depends on individual professor. But if I were a professor, I suppose I'd want to see my student before admit him/her

No, haven't heard anything either and status remained submitted. Stressful...........

Thanks! I think that's a good suggestion. I'm kind of leaning towards suit pants and a light blue long sleeve shirt with collar. Is it better to wear a white shirt or a color shirt?

So I received campus visit invitation and am not sure what to wear. For male I know a shirt and khaki pants should do it, but not sure for women? I found these two on Amazon, but I feel is it too formal to dress as left and too informal (and old-fashioned) to dress like right?

Not yet. But I've been in contact with a professor also doing GIS. Which professor interviewed you? Maybe he thought it was good. Keep positive : )

I hope so!! Are you studying in Maryland? I think you have really good program too. Not sure about critical geography but certainly GIS and remote sensing.

I applied before and I got interviews from Berkeley and Columbia. I haven't got any interview this year yet which makes me so worried. Have you?

Hi everyone! Just want to start a post on UCSB geography program. Let's share our experience, anxiety, frustration..... and everything about applying to UCSB geography! Have you heard back from them yet? Have you been interviewed?

So I visited this school during application and briefly talked to the professor. I really want to do research with him and they have a really good program and everything. After a month---and I know they will get a decision soon, I thought I should send a follow up email and I got the reply on the same day: "Thanks for getting in touch with me again! Our admissions committee, which is the first "hurdle" is getting closer to making decision. After they evaluate applications and give them their OK can can get active. This is a time were a lot of things are in flux and I'll be in touch asap. " First of all I don't know what he means by "After they evaluate applications and give them their OK can can get active", who get active? Second I'm not sure how much hope I have here. Does it seem that the professor is very willing to accept me? Can he decide that I'll get admitted? Will I get interviewed again? Really frustrated

There is a problem because you don't pick a place where you live----because you're only going to live there for 4-5 years and rarely do people find job position in the place where they do phd. I have no interviews too but I did visit 2 schools during application. Let's not give up hope op.
