Another SUNY Albany admit here! Coming as a physical science undergrad, so I was grateful to be accepted.

Claiming a SUNY Albany acceptance. It's my first one and it feels sooo good to know I will be going somewhere in the fall!

Harvard has been "unable to take favourable action" on my application. Pretty weird, I just wanted them to assess it and let me know whether I got a place.

Hi everybody,
This is my first post on here after lurking here for weeks so I'll quickly introduce myself. I'm applying for PhD programs in Sociology. I applied to Ohio State University, University of North Carolina, University of Maryland, Indiana University, SUNY Albany, and Bowling Green State University. I'm really interested in Social Psychology, Family, Life Course, and Identity. My undergrad GPA is a 3.59, but my major GPA is a 3.97 (I thought I wanted to go to nursing school so I've got some really hard science classes bringing me down a little bit). GRE scores were a 159 V, 161 Q, and 4.5 AW.
Onto the good news...I can claim one of the acceptances into University of Maryland! Got an e-mail from them a little while ago with a link to the official letter. I'm so excited!
Looking forward to chatting with you guys a bit as we wait for our other schools to get back to us. Good luck to everybody and congratulations to everybody that's already been accepted too!

Can anyone claim a Columbia admit? A bunch went up overnight but without any description or stats. It's just now 7am in NY and I'm skeptical about either the department or admissions office sending emails in the middle of the night...

I know a little bit about the program. I one of my sociology professors was a visiting professor from Temple emphasizing sociology of education, fittingly enough. I know that Temple's program is fairly low ranked, but the school has been on a growth spurt recently, and the professor I took a class with was pretty interesting, her specialty was race and higher education. However, I do also know that Temple is in a pretty bad part of Philadelphia and a lot of students who live in the area are unhappy with the campus security. I am not sure how much of a concern this is for you, but just something to keep in mind.

Isn't this thread for acceptances, rejections, and interviews? 99% of what's posted in this thread is conversation. 

The MSc in sarcasm and rhetoric at Stony Brook, I hear, is top notch & a great foot on the door to engineer industry.

Hmmm...Well, I'm an Americorps VISTA alum, have 13 years of professional experience, currently manage a statewide program for one of the world's largest non-profits, volunteer for three additional organizations, act as an advisor for a young professionals network, and am completing my Masters at the same time...maybe I actually have a shot in the dark of getting in, regardless of my shitty quant score. At least, I'm praying, crossing fingers, eyes and toes, and working all kinds juju in hopes of it.
I work my ass off, but still find a few minutes to participate in small-talk and off-topic conversation. It helps to calm my nerves while waiting. 
Oh - BIG CONGRATS to whomever received admission to UCLA, today!!!!

I like how not a single rejection has been listed for sociology on the results page so far.
