Fingers crossed! Although their placement record doesn't seem quite as strong Pitt's and I'm ambivalent at best towards Boston/Cambridge, it's really the only program that might make me reconsider Pitt (except, of course, UNC, which I'm certain I was rejected by).

Don't lose heart over being waitlisted, then! My writing sample is on Kant's philosophy of mind, and I was accepted off of it. I'm 99.9% certain I'll turn down their offer for Pitt, so I might be your only roadblock to an acceptance!! I'll make my decision around March 20 after visiting Pitt. I wish I could free up more than one space for everybody

Don't lose heart! You can't know for sure until you've heard back from everywhere -- and even then it could be a problem of fit! I'm thinking UNC rejected me, and in convinced it is because two of the professors I said I'd like to work with in my SOP are really good and might be planning on leaving UNC in the next couple of years. You can't plan on stuff like that, the known and unknown unknowns. To paraphrase Aristotle, "in all ways and utterly it is among the most difficult of things to obtain any certainty concerning [admissions]."
