  1. Was just wait listed at Cornell! I had presumed a rejection long ago, so that was a nice surprise. Tad Brennan was vague about where I was on the wait list, though, so most likely nothing will come of it. Still nice to make it this far, though.
  2. Stanford needs to just reject me already so I can focus on what I have and stop unjustifiably hoping....
  3. What's going on with Stanford? I would've thought some non-ancient people would've heard by now.
  4. Never mind! It turns out I'm not completely helpless.
  5. Okay I know I'm way late on this, but how does one add a signature?! Technology is not my strong suit.
  6. Buy me a round of beer and I will seduce the DGS. I didn't even apply there so I have nothing to lose, and only beer to gain.
  7. I've heard from an undergrad at Riverside who was inquiring into the matter with an admissions prof that they're only looking to have 4 people or so this year due to funding limitations. So, not to be a downer, but that might be it for them :/
  8. He actually wrote one of my letters of rec! I know he rubs people the wrong way a lot, but having gotten to know him I'm come to the conclusion that he's like that gruff but deep-down compassionate grandpa type. As a (white) female, I actually felt very good about being in his class. A lot of the female grad students go to him if they're having climate/microaggression problems with others in the department, actually. Have you interacted with him in person much, or mostly e-mail/phone? I could see his true nature not really coming through if it was mainly the latter two. And, for the record, I disagree with him on just about everything, so I don't think that's why I like him! Hah.
  9. True!! And I happen to love him. I honestly had forgotten he was there until just now. Hahah this is definitely a point in favor of Austin. Especially since van Inwagen (who I love as well) is semi-retired at this point.
  10. Thank you!! I'm constantly torn between metaphysics and philosophy of mind, which makes it tricky. I don't know much about UT Austin's metaphysics department (I have some research to do), but I know Notre Dame is strong in that area. On the other hand, my advisor told me to apply to Austin in the first place because of its strength in philosophy of mind. An added consideration is that I'm attending Notre Dame for undergrad. So branching out is probably another tally in favor of Austin, but who knows.
  11. Just got into UT Austin!! Very excited. I was also awarded the Provost's Graduate Excellence Fellowship :):) Does anyone have any insight as to which one is better, Notre Dame or UT Austin? I know on Philosophical Gourmet they're tied for ranking, which makes it tough.
  12. If we haven't heard anything yet from Berkeley and Cornell, should we assume a rejection?
  13. @Nat_Foot perhaps your calling them helps move them along?
  14. I AM ALSO ONE OF THE NOTRE DAME ADMITS!!!! I have been a lil bundle of suffering and anxiety these past few weeks so I cannot even express how relieved/elated I am!!!! This is my first acceptance after 6 rejections, so I really needed this. Best of luck to the rest of you!! Also I am currently getting my undergrad from Notre Dame so if anyone wants to ask me questions about the department, feel free!! There's lots of cool cats here.
  15. I have it on good word (I'm buds with one of the dudes on the admissions committee at ND) that they're running a little behind this year because of some computer/tech problems. Classic philosophers not being able to tech. In any case, that's probably why they haven't called anyone yet for the general PhD program. Best of luck to you all!!!!
