Not a huge Plato fan. I really like Aristotle, especially Nichomachean Ethics, Physics, and Poetics. I'm reading Kant's Critique of Pure Reason for the second time (sitting in on a grad course). And Nietzsche, especially Birth of Tragedy. Edit: grammar.

In case anyone is wondering about DePaul: first wave of interviews are going on this week, but they will most likely do another wave after this one (with people who haven't been contacted at all yet). My prof also told me that someone at a school I applied to actually called them to ask about me. I had no idea they do that! Also, regarding Chicago Social Thought, someone posted this on the results board: "wrote an email to admissions those waiting for PhD Social Sciences. Here's their response: "All applications are currently in final review;Official notification of decisions are made after the review of all applications and usually begins the last week of February or first week of March. All official decisions are sent by email" THE WAIT IS TORTURE!! :("

Apparently I can only give 5 upvotes a day, so I just wanted to say thanks to all the women/people of color speaking up in this thread. I don't have the same patience as you all to write a coherent argument about it here, so I'll just say: thank you. And fuck the rest.

Also waiting to hear on Chicago's Social Thought. Thank you so much @Nat_Foot!! All this supposed results board trolling going on is frustrating (though somewhat entertaining), so I'm very thankful you're doing this!

Hi, I can claim this. I first got a personal email from the grad program director telling me I'm on the wait list for admission and funding (I did not inquire about rank), then an automated email telling me to log in to the application system to view the decision letter (the letter basically said the same thing as the director email). I only applied to three schools: Loyola Chicago - Philosophy (wait list), Northwestern - Philosophy: European Philosophy (rejected via email/website), and University of Chicago - Committee on Social Thought (haven't heard anything). Good luck!
