  1. Congrats to the UCLA admit!! That is awesome!
  2. Sadly UT doesn't have a waitlist. They offer a larger group of students (those invited to campus) and take what they get.
  3. I believe UVA is done with acceptances and waitlists. If you weren't invited to UT's visitor weekend then you will not be offered a spot. If you were the odds are incredibly high you will be offered.
  4. It's honestly surprising that more schools don't update their pages to reflect when these types of decisions are made. Most still say early to mid-March.
  5. No I would agree. If you haven't heard from most schools by this point it's likely not the best situation.
  6. I believe UCLA is still making decisions although I know a few offers have gone out. Not sure about Washington.
  7. I had a brief conversation with a committee member who is currently at a top-20 grad program. He told me that it is advisable for you to have a specific historical focus. They see countless applications that try to explain how passionately they enjoy history and, in nearly all of these cases, throw them aside. Specifically regarding your own work I think your thematic interest is commendable. That being said, I would try and adapt that topic to a specific region or time period so that you can engage with faculty members and have them back your application. Best of luck to you.
  8. I am in the same boat as you. My plan is to be polite and respectful in precisely the same manner I would hope to get a rejection from a given school. They are professionals and understand that these are some of our first major choices in the professional arena. You won't hurt their feelings, they will be happy for you!
  9. I was also admitted to OU, so who knows, we might even see each other next fall!
  10. I echo the sentiments of the previous poster. Your Master's experience should be about giving you the tools to make an absolutely stellar doctoral application file. Obviously there is more to it than that but when you are being pragmatic that is what you need. If you feel like you can get that out of the Master's program you were accepted to then I would accept it (assuming you don't get PhD acceptances) and try and finish in two years.
  11. I visited Vanderbilt last spring and came away very impressed. Their graduate student body was incredibly welcoming and bright. Plus, Nashville is a great town. Lots of great BBQ.
  12. That is amazing! Congrats to you!!
  13. Oops...I prematurely poked...
  14. I would assume so. I would still recommend the OP contact Penn if they want an update.
  15. There you go. Sounds like there might be hope yet.
  16. I'm not familiar with Penn but they may have an unofficial waitlist. That being said, I would go ahead and contact a POI or DGS.
  17. I'm in the same boat as you with William and Mary. To preserve my sanity I have decided to assume I have been rejected, and should anything materialize later it is a bonus.
  18. I don't know that I would...some schools have issues. That being said, hope for the best!
  19. I've had the same issue...you could always give them a call.
  20. I feel like most graduate advisers have gone into hiding at this point...
