  2. Congratulations! My dream is to be able to say that one day soon!
  3. Good to hear there are others out there like myself. I'm about to graduate w/ a double major in Linguistics and German, so hopefully that'll give me at least SOME sort of edge... but yeah I don't have much "research" experience outside of my major project. I do have experience as TA so hopefully that helps. I'm dying not knowing yet whether or not I'll be in grad school come August. I can't believe the process takes so long. Come on, don't they realize most of us will need to uproot our entire lives to attend school. They should give us as much of a notice as possible, not keep us waiting until the very last second. --> I need to know if I should start looking for a job lol
  4. I'm in a similar position as you except I've not received any acceptance letters yet... still waiting and hoping. I applied to all PhD programs (might've been a little ambitious) and I've been told that sometimes applicants who apply to PhD programs will be accepted into MA programs w/out funding. If that happens to me, I'm prepared to pay my own way through my MA in hopes of receiving full funding to the PhD upon completing the MA program. After all, my career goals depend heavily on grad school, so any yes is, at least imo, an open door to success. On that note, I'm not sure self paying for one or two grad level courses will really be worth your while, unless you happen to know that a specific teacher is teaching a course that would help you in your research proposal. Otherwise you're just paying ridiculous fees to pass the time. btw, you'll still have to apply to the school as a non-degree seeking student and be admitted. just my own thoughts on the matter.
  5. I'm in the same boat there Patti. Now all my family members keep calling and asking if i've heard anything yet. I'm feeling pretty ashamed everytime they call and I have a new rejection to tell them about. I get why getting into grad school is so hard/competitive, but sometimes I just wish they admitted everybody. BTW, not to be a D**k or anything, but that Chris guy can't really know what it's like for us peons that only have rejections and no acceptance letters yet. -I mean, our entire futures are riding on the whim of several committee members whom we've never even met. The stress is immense and people like Chris who already have 7 yeses sitting on their high horse saying grad school isn't as great as it's cut out to be make me sick. I know you're just trying to make us feel better, but it doesn't really help. Just makes me realize that there are people out there who are already lucky enough to have heard back from their programs, which makes me sweat that much more.
  6. nothing, because now I'm quite certain that acceptance emails don't exist.
  7. sorry to hear that. I hate how stressful this process is. I'm still waiting to hear back from UC-Boulder..... Guess I can expect a "thanks but no thanks."
  8. As the title say's, those who have been waitlisted, thank thy lucky stars. There of those of us with 3+ rejections and many more non-replies.
  9. Same story here. Nothing but rejections yet... gosh, why can't getting into graduate school be more like Undergrad? so stressed!
