  1. I sent her everything, including my pre-reqs specified form. This was back in August. I emailed her multiple times, she said she never got anything (even though I have an email from her saying "Thanks! Got it" in August). I re-sent her my items, sent a follow up email, then another, then another, called her, called the office. Nothing.
  2. It is through my distance learning program, so in-person isn't an option, but I have emailed her, called her, called the office. Everything. I understand they are busy but I strongly feel if you agree to write a LOR for a student you should follow up. I am very frustrated.
  3. I have a professor from my speech prereqs that promised to write me a LoR and now has not responded to any emails, and I am getting desperate as my deadlines are fast approaching. I have an aunt (mom's sister) that is a very accomplished SLP. She has worked in the field for 40+ years, went to Columbia, heavily published. We are close. I know family members are typically a big no-no for grad recommendations, but do you think this could work as a last resort?
  4. Of course! I'm in the midst of prereqs at USU and my current GPA is 3.8. My 1st undergrad was around a 3.3. My GRE is 150Q, 159V and 5 AWA. I also have a lot of relevant experience. I can't believe I got in!
  5. Just a heads up to anyone else who's an early bird, I was told today Kean may be changing their video statement questions and to not submit anything until the new questions are up! I almost submitted mine today as the new applications for 2017 are up, but luckily I called for an unrelated question and the director told me to absolutely not submit anything until they decide whether or not to change the question (no word on when that would be).
  6. I just submitted my application to Montclair and I would suggest taking your time on it as once you submit/upload something it cannot be altered or changed in any way
  7. Many applications aren't even open yet! A majority of mine don't open until October.
  8. Hey everybody! Happy app season I am currently applying to schools in the NJ/PA/NY area. However, I would like to also add 1-2 distance programs to my list. My problem is they all just seem "the same" to me. I was wondering if anyone had any distance programs they particularly enjoyed, or heard good things about. My stats if it helps are: 3.3 1st Degree GPA 3.78 2nd (CSD) Degree GPA GRE: 159V/150Q/5.0 Thank you!
  9. Is it possible for a professor to write a rec for just 1 school? For example, I have 2 professors in mind to write my recommendations, but another one that went to one school I'm applying to. Can you pick to "apply" recommendations to specific applications, if that makes any sense?
  10. Hi everyone! As CSDCAS does not open until August and I try to figure out my recommendation situation, I was just wondering how recommendations work within the CSDCAS application system. Do I have to send links to my recommenders for every application, or is there a way my recommenders just have to upload one generalized letter and it applies to every app?
  11. Hey y'all! I want to start putting my resume together for applications but am a little lost on how to include volunteer work and shadowing experience. I tried googling but to no avail. Any advice? Thank you!!
  12. I'm doing this summer, fall, and then will finish in the spring. Depending on what you already have done, you might be able to finish in time! From what I had asked with the schools, they don't seem to have a preference (or they didn't tell me they did) if you have a degree or just the classes!
  13. I was looking into that but thought I read a thread on here saying they were competitive - I might be wrong! It's not ideal but definitely an option. I'm in North Jersey and would like to avoid moving if at all possible.
  14. Thank you everyone for your replies! Each one is very helpful. I am so grateful for this community!
  15. Hi all! I know it's early for Fall 2017 but I'm starting to try and whittle down my "big list" of schools to the ones I will actually apply to in the fall. I have a 3.3 first degree GPA, am currently taking online prereqs with about a 3.8 GPA for those. My GRE scores are 159 V/150 Q/ and 5.0 AW and as of now I am not planning on re-taking them again. I have good extracurriculars including teaching in a sign language-based school for deaf toddlers, volunteering at an orphanage in Italy, interning under an SLP at a hospital, and working for my undergrad's Disability Services office. I am trying to have a healthy mix of schools that are a reasonable fit with my GPA/GRE. I've emailed a bunch of them but have either gotten no reply or been told to "Just apply and see what happens". I applied with no prereqs and a lower GRE score last year and was waitlisted for Montclair. So far my list includes: Montclair, Kean, Monmouth, WPUNJ, East Stroudsburg, Salus, SCSU, LIU-Post, and Teacher's College. I was wondering if anyone had any advice, criticism, or suggestions for either adding or deleting a school from this list. I am trying to be realistic (to save myself money and disappointment!), but I know it is hard in this crazy competitive field, and especially hard in the Northeast! Thank you:-)
  16. Hi all! I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I did a quick search and couldn't find anything. Are there any services or current grad students that are open to reviewing a personal statement? I've just finished mine and am a little unsure if I included everything I should have. Thank you!!
  17. I called a few weeks ago and they had said that they typically end up pulling at least a few from the waitlist, but it can happen anytime, even late summer she didn't have a lot of info to give me, but fingers crossed!
  18. Hi all - I was waitlisted at Montclair and have tried to search these forums to see if I can get an idea of how many people are accepted off of the waitlist. The email says nothing about a waitlist rank, only in the "near future" they will have a better idea of the available positions. This is my dream school and I would love to attend. I have sent the program coordinator an email reaffirming my desire to go there and updating her on my higher GRE scores from my latest round of taking them. Any help/advice is appreciated!
