I went to VCU Painting and Prtinmaking for Undergrad and LOVED IT. I still keep in touch with my professors and the graduate program is fantastic. They are very very competitive, but if you get in its worth it. Plus the prices is right and Richmond is an amazing city.

Go with SFAI in my opinion. SVA is a good program (I work there), but it is expensive, you will have tons of debt and from what i understand the curatorial job market is extremely oversaturated. With SFAI you will have less debt and a more academic background. Also, that musuem/gallery experience is vital in being able to get a job.

Both programs are good though! And you will get a similar experience at either.

I understand what you are saying, but I work at Art University in NYC and honestly having that amount of debt with an MFA is not wortht it. Many of my coworkers are Yale, Tyler, MICA,  MFA grads and they are making the same as I do ( 40k a year), but with 100k plus in debt. They have to work full time jobs and don't have time to make work as they are so focused on paying back their debt.

MFAs are a great degree, but it's not a guaranteed money maker. Be smart and don't put yourself in a bad position for the future. Just my two cents!!
