  1. Hey, I responded to your message as well about housing. But Gypsy Housing on facebook is amazing for roomates/shares. Also, i highly recommend the Ditmas Park/Flatbush area. It is insanely close to Brooklyn College and still relatively cheap compared to trendier neighborhoods.
  2. Hey! I did! I have sent it my deposit. Honestly, i decided due to the price, and the faculty. They have great professors and every i know who has gone through the program has been extremely satisfied. Plus the work is right up my alley, they are not commercially focused, but very much a fine art program
  3. I work at SVA, the admissions department made a mistake apparently. Just disregard!!
  4. Yeah I have been contacting them quite a bit about that. They only offer federal loans for first year, but your second year there are scholarship and two teaching positions (very competitive). My friend did say she was able to TA quite a bit while in the program, even though she was not awarded one of the teaching positions. I have been looking into outside scholarships. Do some googling, there are tons out there.
  5. Go with SFAI in my opinion. SVA is a good program (I work there), but it is expensive, you will have tons of debt and from what i understand the curatorial job market is extremely oversaturated. With SFAI you will have less debt and a more academic background. Also, that musuem/gallery experience is vital in being able to get a job. Both programs are good though! And you will get a similar experience at either.
  6. I was accepted and am planning to attend Brooklyn. I dont know a ton about the program, but i have talked to an alum who loved it. She said it was very open and she was able to make the work she wanted. She also felt she had great crits and loved working under Vito Acconci. All in all a great experience, esp with the tuition so low. Are you planning to attend??
  7. I was only accepted into Brooklyn College, but I think I am gonna go! The price is right (tuition so low), great facilities and location and excellent faculty. I cannot wait to work under Vito Acconci.
  8. Have you/your friend heard anything? I was thinking about calling again, but i dont want to annoy them.
  9. I went to VCU Painting and Prtinmaking for Undergrad and LOVED IT. I still keep in touch with my professors and the graduate program is fantastic. They are very very competitive, but if you get in its worth it. Plus the prices is right and Richmond is an amazing city.
  10. I understand what you are saying, but I work at Art University in NYC and honestly having that amount of debt with an MFA is not wortht it. Many of my coworkers are Yale, Tyler, MICA, MFA grads and they are making the same as I do ( 40k a year), but with 100k plus in debt. They have to work full time jobs and don't have time to make work as they are so focused on paying back their debt. MFAs are a great degree, but it's not a guaranteed money maker. Be smart and don't put yourself in a bad position for the future. Just my two cents!!
  11. I received my rejection letter last night I am still waiting to hear from Brooklyn. Thanks for the info!!
  12. http://mooree3.wix.com/elizamoore Check it out and let me know what you think!
  13. I was under the impression that the 6 weeks was from the application due date, which was up a few weeks ago! I am dying to know!
  14. I am waiting to hear from SUNY Purchase and Brooklyn College (was already rejected from Rutgers and Yale sadly). Has anybody heard from these schools? I am DYING of anticipation!
