If anyone needs free help on verbal I can tutor. I am good at vocab and the other parts, but I freeze on tests, so I am trying to calm myself down and take the test at the end of March. Please contact me at califgre@gmail.com. I am also good on essays since I am a writing instructor. Reach out to me if you want free services.

Hello everyone...I did horrible on the GRE but turned in my apps anyway. Can I join the group study? My strength is Verbal and Sentence Equiv but I just could not think on the exam. I am thinking of re applying for next cycle, but need a stellar score. Thanks

Is it too late to join the GRE study group? I took the GRE but did horribly got really stuck on the math then lost interest in the verbal. I am studying again and have already sent out all my apps. So I am hoping to take the exam in late March. Please text asap. Thanks so much!

I took the Manhattan course twice and found it very useful. I was scared of the math but am strong on the verbal. I am interested in getting old GRE tests. Does anyone know how to acquire them? I would much rather use the real tests though Manhattan does replicate them well. I don't think Kaplan does a good job from the practice tests I have seen. The actual GRE looks a lot like the Manhattan prep, but my head is fried from studying! Any advice on material would be great!

GRE Subject test for English Lit
cool cat replied to cool cat's topic in Statement of Purpose, Personal History, Diversity
Thank you so much. I have almost finished reading my second Anthology which I love doing, but how much is it going to help me? I also get the Princeton GRE Lit book and I have read almost everything on that list, but the questions are still a conundrum to me. I will have good recs, GPA, and good writing skills ( I am an writing instructor) there are only 3 schools that I want to try for that require this test, but they are high end schools (Berkeley is one of them) but they are very very fussy. I am now concentrating on my GRE general. Believe it or not I am stumped on the sentence completion, I am seriously considering taking a Manhatten class (online) since I have not opened the books for months. I began my review last week and felt so behind since lit was all I worried about. Would you recommend Manhatten or just do it on my own, or even take a quick online class for 99.00? Thank you so much for your advice though. I really appreciate it. -
GRE Subject test for English Lit

OK I looked at the test from ETS and I could barely answer any questions. The ones I could answer were from what I learned or read in school several years ago. I have almost finished the Anthology, so that did not help. Kaplan does not have any resources for Lit sub exam. Can anyone advise? I am so freaked out right now. -

Thanks for all the advice. How important is Marvell? He is given a lot of importance in the anthology. I am going deep into Milton, but other than that I plan on skimming since I have already read a great deal about the others. Any advice? -
Thank you so much for replying. I bought a number of resources such as Manhatten's verbal books, ETS GRE, but I was going to enroll in Kaplan 1200 dollar program for which money is scarce and the benefits from what I have heard not that great. So I am going to self study just finished my MA in English and am now getting to this. The reading is slow very slow I have not even finished one anthology yet, but I was busy with my thesis all this time. I will finish it, but have been stressing out on time. The exam is on October 29th. The other general I am still studying for. I am using Magoosh but want to know if anyone has used the PowerScore Bible for verbal? Thanks
-
Has anyone used the Powerscore GRE verbal Reasoning Bible? It looks good, but I have not heard anything about it. Please advise. I am doing Magoosh, should I also use Kaplan? I mean the whole course it costs a fortune, but is it well worth it or is Magoosh enough with Manhatten prep resources? Thanks

Can someone suggest the best way of preparing for the GRE's? I am going to sign up with Magoosh, but has anyone also used Manhappten Prep? I am in English, so need a perfect verbal score.

Grade conversion for international students

I know that state departments of education have the ability to translate your grades. Every state has an organization set up, so contact them. I also lived in Germany and understand the rigorous programs they have there, so you are in good shape. Don't rely on universities to do this for you.
