Yeah I also am considering applying to a few masters programs here in Israel. I will also continue working in the lab I work at now. This whole process is so stressful and emotionally taxing :(.

It is worth to have something guaranteed. At least you don't stop stuying, which is not interesting for your CV. That's how I'm taking this whole thing now... trying not to freak out and sticking with this master. I'm going to try publishing as hard as I can, maybe with 2 papers in very good international journals it makes things easier to a get to a good Ph.D.

Yeah this process is so brutal. So far I have been rejected from two places and have had mostly radio silence from the other places. The one school I was in touch with has been ghosting me for a month, so I feel what you are going through. Do you have any alternative plans for next year?

Same here. I will be sticking with the master's program in my home university (in Brazil). People say PhD is what matters most. What about you?

    Thanks!

American student. Undergrad GPA: 3.8, Masters GPA: 3.4. GRE was 155V/154Q/4.0W, taken nearly 5 years ago. 2 years experience in two different undergrad research labs, one year experience as a full time lab tech, and 2 years experience in my masters thesis lab. 2 publications, handful of presentations, and probably most importantly is my previous experience and current interests matched perfectly with the advisors that ultimately accepted me. Number wise, my GPA (mainly masters) and GRE are quite low, but research experience/productivity and research fit definitely helped me out I think.

I didn't get into any Ph.D. programs until this cycle, which was my third time applying, so to anyone reading this please don't lose hope. Tenacity definitely helps out in the end!

Thank you for your response. It is nice to read such kind of advice because this is my first time applying to graduate schools outside Brazil and I'm probably not being accepted (already rejected from U of T and didn't hear anything back from McGill and Western). I was already accepted in the Master's program in my home university, so I'm going to focus on publishing and getting good grades to have a chance.

Hey guys, I finally made an account after lurking on this thread and reading the previous two threads from 2017/2018 hahaha

Finally wanted to contribute as I’m feeling hopeless.... this is my first year applying and I haven’t heard from any of my other schools except I received a rejection from SFU a couple weeks ago. Wasn’t my first choice but still stung and shed a few tears at my first rejection LOL :(

I applied to SFU, UBCV, UBCO, OISE(SCCP), Mcgill(school psych), Guelph, Western, Ryerson.

I know it’s early but I have a gut feeling I’ll be facing rejections across the board this year.. any recommendations on how to strengthen my application for next year?

That's a lot of applications... are you Canadian? By the way, I have contacted Western's Psychology department and I was told they will be sending interview invitations in this next week.

Hi! I was not given too much information about recruitment weekend besides the dates. I know Behavioral Neuroscience and Social Psych are technically both within U of T's Experimental Psych program, but I'm not sure if they handle their recruitment weekends differently. Best of luck to you! I did not apply to McGill but I did apply to Western and have not heard anything yet either.

Oh, I'm hoping they are different ?. Good to hear that I'm not the only one who didn't receive anything from Western yet... God I'm so nervous ?

  6. Does anyone here understand the process of admission by canadian universities that require the two last years GPA? My CGPA is a mess, about 3.4/4, but a have nearly "straight As" in the last two years (3.9/4). On the application process, do they consider look at the rest of the grades as well? Since I am an international student, I have converted my grades.
