I'm sure the admissions blog will start again soon when it is time. It's an incredible resource really, no other school I applied to comes close! They're probably just very very very busy, which makes me supremely unconfident in my chances. ?

Yeah very reasonable point. It's a lot
I really think 100k is too much, especially if you intend to go into government service due to the low-ish salaries. Oxford is excellent too!
What is the price difference?
-
I really wouldn't take on 100k in debt to attend Georgetown though...

I'm an international student in the United States so it'll be harder to re-enter once I leave. Although the idea of a free education is v tempting
That definitey makes things harder for you! Do you want to remain in the US afterwards? Or do you have another destination in mind?

Currently debating between Columbia SIPA ($$), Johns Hopkins SAIS ($$), Tufts Fletcher (&&), and IHEID Geneva ($$$$). I am hoping to work in international conflict resolution either at the UN or any multilateral org. Any recs?
To me IHEID seems like the clear winner, congratulations! Why are you doubting that offer? ?

Not sure, but I think this year is less likely to have deferments than the last year. COVID and remote education were relatively new then than they are now - also, I think that people are more in peace with it all than they were before. Let's see how that goes this time...
So curious to see how it all works this year, even if I don't get in! I'd be open to deferring for a year if needed, but I can only imagine how that went down last year!
-
Are deferments likely to be a thing this year, or was that just specific to the challenges of last year?

I haven't heard of such a scenario before either nor have my batchmates who have applied this year/previous years. Yes, it reads".. your application has not met the minimum GPA requirement of the Horace H. Rackham School of Graduate Studies..". I am shocked as my gpa is >3 in the US grading systems (which I believe isn't so low?).
I have asked them to revert back but they havent replied yet. Also thanks for the suggestion, I have asked them if there's a possible way to mitigate this
What's even more weird is that my portal never got updated even when I had been receiving mails for admitted students till a day before. I would recommend all of the admitted students to check the same
Really hoping there's a way out of this cause I had already made plans (quit my job etc)
This is just so awful and I'm so sorry that you are dealing with this! I I don't really have any advice but I just wanted to say good luck and I hope you make it to Ann Arbor one way or another.
I had a similar experience with a MA/PhD acceptance to Michigan State years ago. I was accepted but then they said my UK 3-year degree didn't meet the requirements... I didn't attend for a few different reasons.

It is extremely unlikely that results will come out tomorrow. There is no evidence to suggest that. You can keep updated with the results process by following the admissions blog here: https://hksadmissionblog.tumblr.com/
They usually do a series of posts leading up to the big day. The blog says late March.

Does anyone know if GWU Elliott negotiates on funding?
I'm also considering declining an offer or two. Is it too early to do that really?

Honestly, I love it. The cohort is amazing and even with these past two semesters being virtual, we've found ways to connect and bond. The faculty and staff are unparalleled. Tons of opportunities. I'm still just as excited to be a part of it as I was the day I got my decision letter.
That's so lovely and exciting to hear!

My official letter was like that last year, too. I think it's because the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences sends out the same form letter to every program under their umbrella. I'm guessing you guys didn't get an informal email notification of decision this year? If they run things similarly to last year, within the next week or two, you'll probably get an invitation to a virtual info session for admitted students.
That makes sense! Yes, I don't think there were informal notices this year.
@PupCakes how are you finding the program?
-
Does anyone else find it weird that in a two page admission letter there are literally just two lines that hint at congratulations, and there's like no info about the school or the program itself?
Does that come later?
-
GWU is a really good school and usually ranks above American. Congratulations on your offers!
-
Oh to be wealthy enough to attend a program like this without aid! Congratulations to those who got scholarships, that is an amazing achievement. I'd love to know who the McHenry scholars are, they must be the best of the best.

I also don't see any mention of funding in the letter.
What a crazy, crazy cycle - congratulations and commiserations all!

I thought it was going to be 4:30pm today, but evidently not.
-
I see an SSP reject on the portal from today, and an SSP admit from last week. Congratulations to whoever got 40% from SSP!
still nothing from msfs so far
-
We haven't had any of the blog posts that they do either. I really don't think it will be this week.

I got magazine on 1st January 2021. hope this solves all of your quests . Result as per the previous trends would come most probably by 1 pm on 18th March 2021
Consensus here so far is that it will arrive a bit later in the month, but who knows. The blog says 'decisions will be released in late March'.

I applied to the MAIR which somewhat matched my interests with the concentration in security/strategy but I really just want to do security studies and study either Russian or Persian hence SSP. But the MLitt program in Middle East Caucasus and Central Asian Security studies at St Andrews is over in 12 months and I’m looking at that now since It’s far more affordable and SAIS gave me no funding besides loans. SSP was pretty much my top choice though MSFS was kind of a backup. I have a very mediocre low 3s GPA so I knew it wasn’t certain but I have killer GRE scores for verbal (98%) so I was hoping that would make up for it ??♂️I guess we’ll see when I actually get a response
St Andrews is a nice place to study!

I was offered less than 10k funding a year - is it worth asking for more?
