I'm guessing it will be an acceptance too! One of the programs I applied to emailed me when the department committee accepeted me, but said it still had to officially go through the department of graduate studies. It's pretty unlikely that they'll go against the department's recommendation, though, so congratulations!! @AnUglyBoringNerd Given your signature, it looks like you're having much better luck this year! Congrats!! @spicyramen Sorry to hear about your rejectionHaving other offers on the table already sure helps the sting!

Wow, @Jules4663!! Congratulations and welcome! I'd say that sounds pretty official especially if that's what was in the application portal. I hope your acceptance packet can get to Australia quickly! What are your research interests (if you'd like to share) and have you heard from any other programs so far?

Haha, yes, I love it!! Curling is underrated. Enjoying figure skating & looking forward to some hockey, too! Glad you found a way to keep your mind off of grad apps for a while. I wish we could get results from every school within about a 1-2 week period. Waiting month after month is a major drag!

Yes, I am!! I'm curious, too, about RSEA. The results section shows a lot of responses coming back in early March though... At least the Olympics provide a nice distraction! Anyone else watching too?

Glad to have you join us A couple days ago I had another email from U Alberta confirming my admission to their MA program, and offering some initial details on funding!! I'm still processing/trying to figure that part out and it sounds like there's more information to come in that regard. This morning I had a very detailed and welcoming email today from my prospective advisor!! I'm pretty excited and impressed! Thanks for the info @lordtiandao. I hope we'll all hear back next week.

@chihiro Congratulations!! Maybe they hadn't gotten around to emailing everyone? The letter I had from USC was dated a few days before I actually received in. In any case, it's great news!!

Welcome @tsuyuri and @chihiro! I'm sorry to read about the rejections, but don't give up hope!! All the schools have such different timelines...I've only hear from 2 out of 8! It's nervewracking to keep waiting, but I suppose one positive of it would be that there's still hope with those schools that are taking longer And of course, congratulations on the acceptances!

That's a great start, and you have 2 choices already! I also have 6 left. I've had 1 acceptance (unofficial, but I'll count it!) and 1 rejection. We're finally getting closer/into decision time. Fingers crossed more more results soon.

Sorry to hear about your rejections @khigh and @SFischer I haven't really been posting here, but been following along. I came to join the party and say that I received a rejection from USC's History PhD today! It looks like a lot of history results went out today. I would have been suprised to get an acceptance since I don't already have an MA, but it was a disappointment nonetheless. At least we all have other plans or options to consider! I remain confident that something cool is waiting for us around the corner

Thank you! It's nice to have results coming in, even rejections. I'm looking forward to hearing back from the other 6 programs. It must be hard to work in a stressful environment. It'll all work out just fine, I'm sure!

Had an email from USC today to check the portal for a decision letter. Had a feeling it would be the History PhD (I applied to their East Asian studies MA as well) and sure enough, a rejection! Of course I was at work too but thankfully I have great colleagues and it didn't take long to get laughing again. Good training for any other rejections that may come my way this season!

Thanks everyone! Hoping you all get some good news soon, too We're definitely getting closer-- I can't believe it's nearly February...! Congrats to those out there with interviews at Columbia, and good luck! I applied there too but for the MA, so unfortunately I have no intel or updates. I would think the email you received would be a sign for hope at least, @archimon.

Congrats to the U of Chicago EALC acceptances! Anyone here going to claim them? Also...I have a result to share myself! Over the weekend I had an unofficial acceptance from UAlberta (East Asian Studies)! Had an email from the program coordinator saying it looks very likely that I'll be accepted and to keep an eye out for funding information in a few weeks! Super excited as this is a program is definitely a strong contender for me. Very grateful to start out with a solid option!

Congratulations @spicyramen !! How exciting! I almost asked about some of the EALC results too. There were Stanford, OSU, and Yale admits, too, so congrats to those folks as well! As a side note, it always makes me chuckle to see people conversing with each other through the results comment section...
