Hi everyone! I'm applying for an ETA position in Macedonia. Are any other ETA applicants not pursuing a career in teaching? I love working with students and I have a lot of experience, but I'm not studying education. I'm a little worried that this will hurt my application ?

Emails are out! I made finalist for Turkish!! Wishing everyone luck

@mrs12 I applied for beginning Turkish! In high school we were going to take a senior trip to Turkey, and through researching for it I became interested in the language and history. The trip was relocated, but I was still enthusiastic about learning Turkish, aaand a couple years later here I am!
-
anyone else a semifinalist for turkish? How did you become interested in learning the language?

I understand the anxiety some people are feeling, it's tough having to tell your work, internship, etc that you can't give a definite answer for at most another two weeks, when they're pressuring you for an answer as soon as possible. I don't blame the state department for needing time to sift through the applications, CLS seems like a huge undertaking and we're not the only thing on their plates. it's just a tough situation. At least we have this forum to vent on!

I realize how impatient I am :/

Oh man, I don't think I'll be able to stand waiting through the weekend! every time I see a new post here my heart leaps.

I'm so excited! I hope they come out soon, I have to confirm my summer plans by March

@mrs12 I'm definitely not changing my mind. I need to start somewhere, and the opportunities to learn beginners Turkish in my area, for my financial situation are very limited. I've also heard that Baku is a fascinating city, historically and culturally ^^

@nervousgal I'm applying for beginning Turkish too! What inspired you to begin learning the language?

Thought I'd be able to put the results out of my mind by being busy with school all day, but then I woke up sick! now I get to lie in bed and do nothing but worry

I worked on mine on and off from the day the application opened, to the 15th. I'm not a very good writer, so I've been spending a lot of time worrying about whether or not my essays are good enough
-
@Estee3 I think the reason they're hard to find is because of a concern with plagiarism. I think it would be useful to see how everyone wrote their essays, but if the essays were easy to find online, then there would absolutely be people copying them.

I'm so excited ><

That would be the coolest thing ^^

Secretly there's four people standing in a huge conference room in DC drawing names out of a top hat...

@I Think I can it's my first time applying for a study abroad program, too. I haven't studied abroad yet, but I've been lucky enough to go on two short term trips abroad with my high school class. Has anyone studied abroad before? To ask a super broad question, what was it like?

anxious to hear the first round of results ><
