So one of the schools I am applying to has, in addition to the SOP, a space on the application that asks, "What are your professional plans following the completion of your graduate study?" I feel like I've covered this to some extent in my SOP, but I don't want to copy and paste. What do you think they are looking for here? Obviously, I want to be a professor when I graduate. So, I intent to get a job at a university. I also want to do research, etc. But, I don't know. I guess I'm just confused as to why they ask the question twice.

I'm in the same boat. I have attended 3 universities, but I've only gotten 2 degrees. So, I am not sure if I should only list on my CV the ones from which I got a degree, or if the one I also attended but from which I did not get a degree should go on there too. Anyone?

So I've seen in a number of places that it's a good idea to reach out to professors at Universities to which you'll be applying. I've thought about this, but then thought again...what would I say? Hi there. I'm going to be applying to your school and I think you're really neat. I particularly liked Blah Blah article and hope that one day I may work with you. Is that what you do? Anyone done this or have thoughts on it? Thanks.

So, did you get in? I am planning on applying there for 2011. I'd love to know if you got in and if you have any advice on how to do so!

Is there a good place to go online that lists the 2010 conferences? I'm interested in learning more about them and possibly submitting or going, but I don't even know where to find information on them. Thanks. -sputnik

Hi All, What are the best PhD programs for Journalism and then for Communications? Is there somewhere these things are posted? I know I can ask the people in my department, but I'd like to know if there is a ranking system out there to which we can refer. Thanks.
