  1. @Echo_in_ground aw man ..... thanks for letting me know. Are you an international student as well? The wait continues ... ?
  2. Has anyone heard from the RCA? I haven't received my physical letter yet or the digital PDF that was supposed to be emailed to me. In addition to this I cannot reach anyone at the school ... when I call nobody picks up and I've emailed admissions as well as the school of communication. Radio silence. @oliveoil anything yet??
  3. @oliveoil NO WAY! Aw man I'm sorry to hear that ... ugh that would be incredible to be able to pay the UK/EU rate. I hope you get funding ( ... if that even exists at the RCA ... which at this point I'm not sure it actually does). l o l I emailed the financial aid office about a month before I decided to apply and asked if they offer any sort of funding to students and someone there replied to me saying that funding is based on portfolio strength and interview performance and that their scholarships operate on an "email invitation basis". I don't know if "funding" and "scholarships" are the same thing (if the guy in Financial Aid was using the terms intermittently) or if these are two separate entities at the RCA ... The thing that sucks is the RCA isn't on the list of schools that the Canadian gov't issues loans for. So even if I decided to go (and pay 28k GBP per year) there doesn't seem to be a way for me to put together the funds. I don't know dude ... I hope we're wrong about this and we get offered some sort of funding. I'll let you know what's laid out in my acceptance package (if anything) Good luck!!!
  4. @oliveoil hey! have you heard anything from RCA? Ive tried calling a few times Over the past week and a half but nobody picks up. Soooo I've decided to wait for my official acceptance letter to come in the mail and *hope* they offer me some sort of funding ... :/ Have you been able to reach anyone there?
  5. Congrats!! Toronto is a great city to live in - I love it here and hope to come back someday. However ... there isn't much of an art/design scene here as of yet. There's definitely something starting but it's kind of ruled by "bloggers" and people with 2-3 degrees of separation from Drake. Seriously. The art scene is a little "closed off" and clique-y ... It's hard to break into, but definitely possible. I don't know too much about OCAD. I had a friend who went there for Illustration (BA level) and loved it. The location is great! It's right downtown just North of Queen St (a trendy, bustling area). It's easily accessible by public transit and there's many great resources in the immediate area (art shops, the Art Gallery of Ontario etc). It's pretty expensive to live downtown though and right now there's a bit of a rental crisis in the city - there's a historically low vacancy rate right now of something like 1.5%. If you get the chance I strongly encourage you to visit and see for yourself. This is just my opinion as someone ever-so-slightly removed from the design/art scene in the city. What I will say is that the way of life in the city is great. The people are friendly, there's lots of green space, half-decent public transit, incredible restaurants, and at a time when it seems like the world's on fire ... the people of Toronto are living together in harmony. Good luck!!
  6. Oh man, you're lucky - I hope it works out and you get to pay the UK/EU tuition fee!! I'm planning on calling at some point this week too, to see if there's anything at all available to me in terms of funding or scholarships. RCA isn't covered by the National Student Loans Service Centre in Canada so I can't get government issued student loans for my studies Let me know if you find anything out and I will do the same!!
  7. Thanks and congrats to you also!!! I don't know much about RISD but I suggest RCA Have you heard anything about RCA funding/scholarships? I emailed their financial aid dept a few months ago and they told me that their scholarships operate on an "invitation via email" basis. So I'm *assuming* if they deem we're eligible for a scholarship (once offering us a place) they'll email us about any scholarships that we're eligible for!?
  8. Accepted to RCA!! Now to figure out how to cover the $45k p/yr tuition ....
  9. Ok .. gah, thanks for talking me off the ledge .. they gave me the 2 week window too but then I saw that email .. Mine was on Tuesday! I was in London for 3 days and am still recovering from a pretty intense case of jet-lag. How did your interview go? And how did you like London?? I love the RCA campus ... I'm sad they'll be moving the Vis Com program to another location this fall. It's so beautiful there - albeit very expensive.
  10. Well ... had my interview with RCA a few days ago. I found a last minute flight for a semi-reasonable price and said "f@ck it". I think it went pretty ok ... there are quite a few things I wanted to touch on in the interview but blanked. I was nervous but I answered the questions pretty coherently ... I just received an email saying that I would hear back about my application soon, and they view every application and they've had a massive amount of applicants this year ... I take this as "you are on the waitlist (but probably won't get an offer)". Has anyone who applied to the RCA Vis Com program heard back yet?
  11. Hi there! I have an interview with RCA in 3 weeks (for MA Visual Comm) and I have no idea what to expect. Could you tell me a little bit about your experience? I'm extremely nervous .. Good luck with Goldsmiths!!
  12. Gahh ... I haven't replied to the interview invite yet to confirm. Flights to London are $700 alone ... and I've used up all my paid vacation days at work. Have you decided if you're going for the interview? I hate skype interviews but I feel like going to London next month isn't really in the cards for me ...
  13. SAME!!! I must have checked like every 30 min .. Mine is March 14th! I live in Toronto so I'm thinking about asking for a skype interview :/ ... but RCA is my #1 choice and I'm sure that actually showing up for the interview would bode well for my chances at getting accepted. Are you going to attend in-person?? Congrats btw!!!!
  14. Also applied to the MA Visual Communication (GD) program at RCA ... haven't heard anything yet :/ On their website it says that everyone who is to be invited for an interview will hear back by Feb 17th .... tomorrow!! Good luck! Hopefully we hear tomorrow ..
  15. Has anyone heard anything from Yale yet?
