  1. Yes, they provided a schedule. I believe you get to pick up to 5 professors to speak with and they try to accommodate that. So you get to have private talks, but in odd reversal you seem to be picking to speak to them instead of vice versa, so I don't know if that's an interview or not. Certainly something like it
  2. Np. A professor contacted me in December and we spoke over phone. At that time, they said they could invite me to the recruitment event, but I declined. I recontacted the professor last week just to see if they had an update on admissions, but instead of responding to my question they just sent the recruitment event invitation. To me this implies that who receives these invitations is completely at the discretion of individual professors (as opposed to the admissions committee), and so you don't have to be given an invite to have a chance at acceptance, but who knows, just a guess. On the invitation they do explicitly state that admissions and funding decisions have not been made yet.
  3. UCSD Nano has its recruitment event on the 17th, hasn't admitted anyone yet. If anyone is going would love to know
  4. Bio seems to be the most active discipline on this board. The EE thread is basically empty, I literally don't think there is a MECHE thread, and the others are really slow. I would take some solace in thinking that indicates a low application cycle making my odds better, but I reeeeeeally doubt that's the case x D
  5. Undergrad Institution: Unknown, unranked Liberal Arts school Major(s): Physics Minor(s): Math GPA in Major: 3.78/4.00 Overall GPA: 3.43/4.00 Demographics/Background: Underrepresented Minority GRE Scores: Q: 162 (82%) V: 166 (97%) W: 4.0 (59%) LOR: I think they're all of average quality. The professors know me *personally* very well, and I did well in their classes, but never did research for them. Research Experience: Two NSF summer REUs at good to great universities in thin film devices. One post graduation research internship in Asia, working in nanodevices. Publications/Abstracts/Presentations: Two fourth author publications. Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Working as full time electrical engineer. Research Interests: MEMs, photonics, nano devices. Institutions/Programs: Electrical Engineering; Berkeley (PhD), UC Santa Barbara (PhD), Yale (PhD), UC Davis (masters), UBC (masters), Toronto (masters), Waterloo (masters), University of Oregon (Masters) Nanoengineering: UC SanDiego (PhD) Comments: Took a two year break during the middle of school, 6.5 years to graduate. Bad Chemistry grades. US Citizen.
  6. One guy reports an interview in the results section, but that's all I've heard. A lot of Berkeley CS people seem to have heard back though
  7. Having a hard time not focusing on anything while we all wait to hear back from schools. I think my app is weak in key areas, wondering if people think I should apply to more safety schools while there is still some time, or if anyone had recommendations. Concerned because I did not major in engineering, lowish GPA, and unknown school.
