I applied there too but haven't heard anything!

The admissions committee is meeting today for my first choice. They might be meeting right now. They might know already. I'm dying a little bit right now.

I have a feeling about next week too. I know Rutgers' committee is meeting tomorrow, and my POI said we should hear from them by Monday. That's all I know for sure, I only applied to four schools. Crossing my fingers!

My primary interest is cultural sociology, with a strong focus on mass media as a socializer. To give you a snapshot of my research interests, my current senior thesis is focusing on how well people can recognize emotional abuse in intimate relationships, looking at media exposure as a factor. Therefore, I think that Rutgers' cultural sociology program is really great because they focus on cognition, which is a unique perspective, closer to psychology than one might think sociology to be, and their perspective is one that fits snugly with my research. Of course, I'm also interested in Michigan because they have a lot of Culture and Knowledge professors who primarily examine mass media.

I know rationally that Rutgers isn't releasing their decisions until after Friday, but I keep checking the website anyways.

I had a dream last night that Michigan rejected me in a two-line email. Not fun.

UGH. Okay, thanks for the information. At least I know we're in for the long haul.

My POI said they're meeting on 2/3 and we should know by or on 2/6.

Who said that? Not to discredit you or anything. That just means more weeks of anxiety, and I'm definitely not looking forward to that.

I just got accepted to UB, with a TA position with four years of funding! My contact in the program also said that they're trying to get me additional funding from a university-wide fellowship. This isn't my first choice school, but I'm still really excited.

I applied to Michigan - nothing yet. From checking previous years on the result page, I estimate we won't know for at least another week.

Which Rutgers professor talked to you? I'm interviewing tomorrow.

I've applied to University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (my first choice), UMass Amherst, Rutgers, and the University of Buffalo. My main focus is cultural and political sociology.
