  1. For those who got 2.6, and only one bad review, seems really worth reapplying and using the comments to improve it! It was my last shot saddly, but I'm sure the reviews will improve my thesis once I recover from the major burn.
  2. Congratulations! For future reference, I got a rejection with grade 3. Painful reviews. I think my advice for future applicants would be: know your audience and stick to it. I am between two areas of interest and I don't think reviewers enjoyed that (got some really conflicting reviews about my research questions).
  3. oh mine was edited yesterday (7 April) again. yeah, I bet you are right. any time now!
  4. Not yet, but had a new edit to my application on 3 April (probably the last review). I would imagine they will need a week or so to prepare and send the results. Good luck everyone!
  5. Agree that they will have to be flexible with the whole plan A/B thing. A lot has changed since 1 November 2020.
  6. Same here! Last update on 23 March. They might be on track for 15 April, fingers crossed for all of us! I am not so sure. Judging by my university, most people shifted to online methods with little or no costs associated to fieldwork. There's also the challenge of justifying the research (and ethics) in the middle of a pandemic. I might be very wrong, but I don't think the number of applications was crazy high?
  7. Hi everyone. Biting my nails here. Anyone knows if they got more, less or roughly the same amount of applications from previous years? Curious about the kind of projects and methodologies that they will be supporting during COVID...
  8. @Soconfusedandnervous oh god, a LOT have been offered. ok, now I'm starting to get really nervous...
  9. The rejection e-mail – at least as I see it – doesn't even mean we have been shortlisted. They probably have sent it to all the applicants. Also, as @capplicant just said, the funding bodies work independently. I was reading about the Cambridge Trust again and I just realised they take the candidate's financial situation seriously into consideration. This alone distinguishes this selection process from Gates'. Good luck for us all, keep your fingers crossed! And please let us know as soon as you start to hear from other funding bodies (we have from late march to july, it will be a tough ride).
  10. Hopes up! They may notify us separately – per department or per country, let's say. Fingers crossed and think positively for a few days more!
  11. Good to read that! Someone from social sciences received an email this morning so I figured I was not shortlisted... but maybe there's still hope until mid March then
  12. I assume international students will start to hear back from Gates soon... Please let us know as soon as any of you receive an invitation for interview. Thanks in advance and fingers crossed for us all!!!
  13. Hi! Actually I haven't received an invitation to interview yet. I received an offer from my Department at Cambridge three weeks after applying, but I'm not sure it means something... Until now I've got no news from Gates. Here is a calendar someone posted earlier about previous international selections. Hope it helps! Good luck On 11/20/2016 at 9:24 PM, embeddedV2 said: Sure, just checked my emails, and this was the timeline: 3 February: department offer 26 February: invited to Gates interview 22-23 March: Gates interview 24 March: Gates offer
  14. First of all CONGRATULATIONS on getting such a reputable scholarship! Hope you enjoy your time in Cambridge. I am Latin American and I received an offer from the University in December. However, I haven't got any email informing about Gates until now. Not sure what to expect... Anyway, as dragontime accurately said: I've been living on Gates website. I have two questions: What department are you at? How was the interview? What sort of questions do they ask? Thanks!
