Isn't Jeremy Melius at Tufts? He works on 19th century British.

My choice basically boils down to great advisor at School A and great scholarly environment in my field at School B. Which is hard because I don't know which to value over the other!

I'm just feeling the magnitude of the choice! I have two great options, but neither was my first choice. And both have significant (but different) pros and cons. I want to make the right choice!

From my understanding, Williams funds many of their students. Even those admitted off the waitlist sometimes get funding if people from the initial wave of funded applicants decide to go elsewhere.

So, as acceptances trickle in, I have a question about making decisions. What kind of criteria would everyone recommend to judge various offers? Specifically, I am lucky enough to have been accepted at two really great programs, comparably ranked (thought School A is probably slightly more prestigious than School B). If I think about the overall program and resources outside the department, School A is a better fit. However, the POI at School B is more recognized and does work more related to my area of interest. The POI at School A is great too, but potentially not as good of a match research/personality wise. Thoughts? Should I go with the program or the POI?

I hope so! From past years it looks like people from most schools found out over the course of several days?

Mahler has always been my favorite.

Not in Italy, but the Middlebury summer intensives are pretty famous.

I'm glad to hear it! From what my advisors said, schools don't like it when you seem to be too committed going in to a phd, which made it hard to write a statement of purpose. How do you show focus and open mindedness at the same time?!? What do you work on, if you don't mind sharing?

@JellybeansGalore @Mazinha88 It looks like from past years that they send out rejections several days after acceptances. Just for the fun of making us spend more time in limbo, I guess?

Well, I am technically supposed to be doing school work right now... Though, it's not doing a very good job of keeping me occupied.

@feelthebern16 I know exactly how you feel! It's moments like these when I wish I had the self control to not check the results board 5 times a day.

Hi everyone! New to the forum, and anxiously awaiting any kind of word from my schools. Does anyone know if it is more common to hear informally from a school or POI first? Or do most schools just send out official news?
