  1. From something someone at one of the interviews said, it seems like directors are more willing to give you more detailed information about waitlist spots on the second and third days...
  2. @atx09, I was at both. To my Midwestern sense of affordability (I'm used to everything being crazy cheap), Richmond seemed really reasonable and Atlanta seemed more expensive.
  3. 0 sleep over here. On the plus side, no anxiety dreams! @adragonisnoslave, that's about as rough as it gets.
  4. I'd love to know too! What are the group interviews like?
  5. Haha, yeah I've had a couple of interviews with 5 and 6 people (never 7 though!). I might be being ridiculous, but I write to all of them. I have to do it right after the interview otherwise the conversations start to get a little hazy.
  6. I've been writing notes to each interviewer individually. They do tend to get repetitive, but I try to include something unique to our conversation, even it was a small detail.
  7. Hey all, Now that some of us probably have a few interviews under our belts, I was wondering if you guys would share some of your pro/con lists, how they've been ranking things so far, or just general impressions? I know I have my certain things I'm looking for, but I'm curious how other people are liking (or not) the programs they've visited and why? Just to note: not trying to get anyone to badmouth programs or anything, just wondering what other people are looking for and how the programs have met expectations.
  8. @moose312 I won't be there until April unfortunately, but good luck! I was really nervous for my first too but, just like everyone else on here has said, the people were super welcoming and it was pretty relaxed. I never felt like I was being grilled, even by the more intense interviewers - they are counselors after all. Hopefully Minnesota is the same. I'm sure you'll be great!
  9. Thanks for the tips! I have to admit, of all the places I applied I'm definitely the least familiar with VCU, so I'm glad to hear you got good vibes and that Richmond seems cool!
  10. @metabolismo, I agree about JHU. I love the idea of being involved in policy on top of everything else and there were some pretty cool opportunities there I was really excited about. I've been to Cincinatti already and have Emory, Brandeis, VCU, Michigan, Northwestern, and Minnesota coming up!
  11. That's what I'm thinking too. Sounds like we all have plenty of other interviews though, so can't complain ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  12. @metabolismo I'm having the exact same anxiety. I saw that someone posted an interview from Hopkins early this morning and have been refreshing constantly. I just want to knoooooow!
  13. I'm still waiting to hear from them too. From last year's results, it looks like we can expect calls next week!
  14. Hey all, another former lurker here. I couldn't not jump in to respond this though. I just finished Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides and it was awesome AND very relevant to genetic counseling. Especially the ways family dynamics and culture/myths can impact the perception of a diagnosis/condition. This family definitely could have used a GC. The SLC GC program used to have a book/film list on their website, but I can't seem to find it anymore. Bummer.
