@Boseph16Congrats on making the decision! I know you really loved Iowa's program so Im very happy that it all worked out for you! Good luck next year! @AgentMike Im so sorry thats really awful, I've had the same treatment from a couple schools and its very upsetting. Its one way how you treat someone when you want something from them its another when you don't, that's when your character shows. I just look at it as a sign that its not a place I would want to be. @_RICdirects_Welcome to the thread!! What other schools besides Penn have you applied to? How has the application process been for you?! @Loose.tap.screws I got an email on the 3rd from Tracee offering me a spot on the waitlist which I happily accepted. DePaul was my dream school when I was making my list of schools I was applying too. I never in a million years thought I would be this close Im honestly freaking out in the best way possible. At this point its up to fate so I'm leaving it in God's hands, if its meant to be it will. Either way it was a huge boost in confidence to make it this far. @Directorial if someone has waited this long to confirm with Iowa I think its a strong indicator they are waiting on another school so you still have a really strong shot!! Keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

@Directorial didn't someone say a few weeks ago that ASU contacted their finalist? I need to go back and look through the thread.

As for good news not so much, I got my rejection from Virginia Tech a couple nights ago and it was heartbreaking to say the least as it was in my top two, but I saw it coming so at least I was prepared for it. DePaul is still my number one so Im very anxious to hear back from them. Does anyone know around when we will? At finals Tracee said we would hear back as soon as they made a decision but I don't know when in years past that has normally been. Anyways keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!!

@Loose.tap.screws I was also at DePaul, I was the bald guy in the bow tie. Were you the Jewish man in the glasses? I did meet @steffybolt who was absolutely lovely. @KillerWingfield what makes me nervous is on the website for UMass Amhearst it says "After faculty has reviewed all completed applicant files, candidates selected for top consideration will be invited to campus for personal interviews between mid-February and late March." We are past mid February at this point. And if your referencing the 6-10 weeks thing on the application site, that's how long it takes for the theatre department to let the grad school know our admission decisions not necessarily the timing for the theatre school to contact us about interviews and visits. The only thing that gives me solace at this point is on the acceptances page in 2011 someone was contacted for an interview on Friday February 18th. But I just can't imagine them contacting us past this week for interviews I mean schools are making their admission decisions around this time.

Has anyone heard anything from UMass? I feel like it's getting too late in the game to not have heard something by this point.

@Carneades congratulations that's amazing for you! I saw that someone on the acceptances page had gotten an interview so I had guessed. I'm trying to remain positive but I just have a feeling at this point. I hope everything goes well for your interview good luck!!

@JamesBrown I might call just to be on the safe side. I'm so sorry that happened to you! But I'm glad your able to resolve it! Boarding my flight to Chicago now. Break legs to all the DePaul people!

@JamesBrown oh my god I'm so sorry! I remember the server crash but I didn't know it deleted applications. How did you find out your application was deleted? Now I'm nervous about mine.

@Loose.tap.screws @GunningForGrad I'm in the 1-5 group but I will be there for the dinner and show! I'm super excited for it, the premise of the play sounds incredibly intriguing. Does anyone know how many finalist there are?

@Boseph16 yeah Bob said the next step (and final from what I gathered?) would be them inviting their finalist for a visit to VTech.

@Carneades I agree with you on all fronts. It's really nice to hear from someone else who went through that specific application process because it is so different. The program is one of a kind and to find one that specific to the kind of theater I want to do it is incredibly daunting they only accept one. But unlike other programs they do accept students every year which I guess balances it out. Hopefully we both hear something soon! Best of luck as well!

@Prosperothat's how I feel about VTech, I know there was one other person on the forum that applied but they haven't said anything for a while. I know there were a few people on here that applied to UMass. I think it's hard because I heard from the other two schools I applied to so early that now I feel insecure about these two. The only thing I'm holding on to is that their applications were much more extensive with writing than a lot of other schools, so maybe it's taking them longer to get through them but then I just feel naive. It's just difficult because they are by far my favorite programs along with DePaul and I would be heartbroken if I didn't at least have the chance to interview. Anyways, goodluck with Boston! They have an awesome program I'll keep my fingers crossed that you hear from them!!

@KillerWingfield that's what my spire says as well. For the DePaul people, do y'all know anything in depth about the process for finals? I saw someone talking about wanting to go through the process for the critique and portfolio review. I know nothing beyond the email that was sent to us about the audition and interview which wasn't super informative. Do people know more from others that have gone through it?

@JamesBrown I just saw you applied to VTech as well! And yeah the site has only gotten sketchier. First there was the error, now the entire system has seemed to crash. It's been out for at least all of today.

@Prospero Yes this forum has given me a lot of peace seeing how other people were contacted and or did not hear from certain schools yet. I was worried if I didnt hear interest for interviews in January I should be worried but this forum is showing me that is not the case. And YES skype interviews are just awkward from the get go, that was the one reason I did want to go through URTA for Iowa and Arizona but at the end of the day it just wasn't worth it for me personally.

@prospero I actually like both of their programs for similar reasons. VTech's MFA is Directing and Public Dialouge so there is a large focus on theatre used as a mechanism to engage society, which fits exactly into the theatre I am most passionate about. It's not for everyone but it is definitely the kind of program that I want to attend. They only accept one student a year though so it's incredibly intimidating. I don't know about others but I really like UMass's program because I feel that the kind of work I want to do would be supported and encouraged there as well. They have a strong emphasis on cultural diversity and globalism and have resources for those who want to learn more within that realm.

I can not belive I did not know this forum existed. I have been suffocating and reading everyones entries I feel like I can finally breathe! This is my first year applying (and hopefully only year god willing). I applied to five schools directly not through URTA: DePaul, Virginia Tech, UMass Amherst, Iowa and Arizona. I sent in my apps for DePaul and Iowa early December and was contacted for interviews for both in early January. I agree with everyone Alan was lovely but I feel like I totally botched the skype interview. It wasn't bad I just don't think I said anything substantial enough. I was so nervous that my mouth and brain just didn't feel like connecting. I'm still waiting to hear back from the other three but I didn't apply untill closer to the deadline. It's a relief to see no one else has heard back from UMass yet I have been panicking about that. Arizona I don't think I will hear back from, I had a short interview with the head before I applied and I got the vibes they were really only considering URTA candidates. But I applied anyway because I feel like I should at least apply to 5 schools and I do like their program. Has anyone else applied to Virginia Tech? Its been the weirdest process out of all of the schools but I love their program immensely. Would love to hear from someone else who was looking at that school!
