  1. Does anyone know if genetic counseling schools can reconsider an offer made to an applicant? I might be overthinking things. I'm currently taking my last prerequisite and struggling quite a bit in the class, despite my best efforts. Would a poor grade in this class cause them to revoke my offer, if I got one? I won't finish the class and know my final grade until well after decision day.
  2. I thankfully don't have class that day until 2pm, so I'll be sitting in my bed with a phone in my hand, trying not to panic. After that, I'll probably celebrate with whoever wants to have fun on a Monday night.
  3. Thank you so much for the survey idea! I just filled it out and I hope my info can be useful for others too!
  4. Cost of tuition is definitely a factor. My favorite school is on the pricey side, but cost of living seems relatively low. Personally, with the exception of one school, I'd be very happy to attend any of the schools I've interviewed at so far. They've all impressed me in different ways.
  5. You definitely have a valid point! We do have plans to get married after graduate school. He's telling me to go where I feel most comfortable. The program where he is, it's great too. The city has lots of opportunities as well. It would be one of my favorites even if he wasn't there. I have a few weeks to think about it, thankfully.
  6. I can imagine the decision seems much more concrete with a husband and children! I have a partner and he is going to be moving to the city where one of my top programs is. However, the other program seems to have a better atmosphere and resources for my particular interests. I don't know, this choice is hard.
  7. Is anyone struggling with ranking their schools? I've gone on almost all my interviews and I'm torn between two schools. If I got into both of them (not likely but it could happen), I have no idea which one to pick.
  8. Thank you for this information! I interview at SLC and Mount Sinai next week and I really hope all goes well. Did you notice any particular questioning style with either of them? Most of my interviews so far have featured 'getting to know you' questions, but one had content-based and ethical questions that threw me a bit for a loop.
  9. So far I've been to 4 interviews and I really, really loved Michigan! I loved the other 3 programs too but Michigan really made me feel welcome and valued. Plus they have a really balanced curriculum and lots of clinical rotation opportunities.
  10. Mine is actually in April. They must have sent the emails in chunks.
  11. @minja134 I did end up getting that virtual interview request with the medical director. I'm surprised they gave us such limited options, right in the middle of the day too. I'm also wondering why they didn't mention this at the ISU interview? Do you think this is like a 'second round' of interviews or something?
  12. For ISU? No, I didn't get an email about that...
  13. Oh, cool! It's funny how many people I've already met from this thread. Yeah, I was not expecting some of the content questions. I don't think I got anything 'wrong' per se, but they caught me really off guard and I babbled a bit. Also one of the interviewers had a really laid-back attitude that I wasn't able to interpret. I couldn't tell if he liked me or hated me.
  14. Just finished interviews at VCU and Indiana State. Definitely stressful and I feel I didn't put my best foot forward on the latter program. Hopefully my interview this week will go better! (Wisconsin on Friday). Please let me know what you think of Mt. Sinai and how that interview goes! I REALLY want to get into a school in NY if possible.
  15. I heard from Northwestern and Mount Sinai today actually! Just gotta prepare for these interviews now that I'm done hearing back from schools. Good luck to the rest of y'all!
  16. Yeah, I've only spoken to one professor so far and told her how many interviews I plan to attend. She said she'd have to come up with some plan for me to 'make up' the class discussions so I don't get penalized 'too much'. Oh joy.
  17. Ugh, does anyone have to deal with undergrad professors making a big deal about absences? I already crammed my spring break full of interviews, I have to miss some classes!
  18. Still waiting on Northwestern and Mount Sinai...has anyone here heard from either of them?
  19. For all those that applied to Minnesota, my application decision just came out. Hopefully y'all have better luck than I did.
  20. This is what I'm thinking. If Northwestern and Mount Sinai turn up I'll take them in a heartbeat, and that'll be 9 interviews...
  21. Ugh, same here. I was really freaking out and applied to 15 schools. So far I only have one rejection and I'm still waiting to hear back from 4 more places. I've been turning down a few interviews but I still worry about turning down too many. Hopefully my undergrad professors won't mind me missing so much class...
  22. Hey! I looked at your profile and it turns out we have the same SLC interview date! Hope I see you there.
  23. Thanks! Good luck to you too, I'm sure it'll come in soon.
  24. I got my invite from Pittsburgh an hour ago! You should check your inbox.
  25. Sorry to hijack your post (as it was really sweet and informative), but can I ask when you heard from Pittsburgh? Are they done sending interview invites at this point?
