  1. No, I don't . No news today. So tomorrow is the day! Good luck to you too!
  2. Aging. But one current PhD student in Epi told me the admission does not depend on the track for last year, they just admitted the top ones across the entire epi program. Not sure about this year.
  3. exactly, that drove me so anxious, but the Epi office said either late this afternoon or tomorrow. We will all know.
  4. Hi folks, Just called JHU Epi office. She said ALL of the doctoral admission decisions for Epi would come by this week! Ugh...
  5. Hi, I am applying for the same program. Have you heard back from them yet?
  6. Saw one person got accepted for Epi at JHU just now. Anyone else heard back from them?
  7. Yeah! Looking forward to seeing you guys there!
  8. Anyone here is going to the UW Visiting Day on Feb 28?
  9. Thank you for sharing! I am applying the same track as you at Harvard, but your experience is def stronger than mine! You are well deserved and gave me motivation to work harder during phD. Congrats again!
  10. Congrats! I saw you were interviewed for Harvard. Is this from Harvard? Would it be possible if you could share your credentials? Thank you!
  11. They asked about the ability to multitask, meet deadline, collaborate with others...things like that. I could not remember too much, I was mostly blacked out during the interview, hahaha...
  12. So I was interviewed for PhD EPI yesterday by 2 potential POI (though I did not identify them in my application, their research interests sort of matching with mine). The invitation was sent out about 2 weeks ago. The interviewers mentioned that the final decision will be announced in mid-Feb, and there will be accepted student day in March or so. They also mentioned that they have received an overwhelmingly large number of applications this year (as usual), and they only interview selective number. Their interview questions are more about the preparation of PhD training in general, rather than specific research experience or plan. And no news does not mean rejection at all!
  13. Thank you! Sure! International Applicant 1. Non-domestic undergraduate degree (GPA:3.5 ish) 2. One MSc in global health + working on another MSc in Epi (GPA 3.9) 3. One year post-graduate working experience in a data-driven global health organization as data analyst and independent researcher 4. 2 co-author publications (1 meta-analysis + 1 large-scale study published on the Lancet) 5. Currently working on 4 projects (various topics), as the first author, expecting to publish in Spring 2019. 6. GRE (V:86%, Q:perfect score, W: 3.5) 7. Reached out UW professors ahead and successfully arranged phone call meetings. In summary, I think my strengths are that my research experience has been pretty quantitative (strong statistic, data analysis, and coding skills) + solid epidemiology background + global perspective. I will update after the interview happens.
  14. Hi everyone, An update regarding PhD Epi at JHU. I received a Skype interview invitation from two professors whose research interests overlap with mine. The interview was scheduled at the end of Jan. Also UW Epi admission last week, but no info on funding or transportation for visiting day.
  15. Hi all, I hope this is the right place to discuss this topic. I am an internatinal applicant for PhD in Epi 2017Fall. In the result sharing, I have seen quite a few people invited to PhD recruitment days (cong!) from the programs I have applied to too, such as BU, Brown, Yale and etc. However, I've heard nothing, no rejection, no invitation, nothing. Obviously, it is not too practical to invite an international student to US for an interview. This brought up my question--whether there is a different/separate review process for international students? I have read a horrible post in the forum that some school only considered international applicants after they first filled the spots for domestic ones. So I was wondering what is the general practice or please share your knowledge/experience. Thank you!
