I emailed Berkeley on March 14 to ask about the status of my application, but I have not received any response yet.  My plan is to give them a phone call next week if I haven't gotten anything by then.

Hi everyone! Has anyone heard from the UC Berkeley PhD program? My online application still shows as "submitted," but it looks like someone was accepted on Feb. 4th in the other forum. We're 30 days out from the April 15th deadline so it seems like some movement should be happening. I'm losing my mind over here!

They sent their main acceptances and waitlists at the beginning of February. I don't know of anyone officially rejected yet. Not sure whether anyone else might get good news (secret waitlist?) or if we're all just waiting for the rejection. 

Agreed. It's really frustrating. I was surprised to see (via facebook group) that UNC still hasn't decided on their rejections. This makes me think they have a hidden waitlist.
Indiana has sent out, ostensibly, everything (acceptances, waitlists, and rejections). Yet I haven't received any word from them as to my status. And then there is Austin and Riverside. Austin has rejected, at the very least, one person (as reported), yet we haven't heard anything else from them. And Riverside is very late this year with their waitlists. Sadly, it seems applicants have had to solicit in past years to get responses from Riverside. 

We need more of this at this stage of the season. There are so many that haven't said anything to those not currently accepted or waitlisted. If only there were more of us with the bravery to do so.

There are some particularly egregious ones, like UNC, whose deadline was 13th Dec, and have yet to send out rejections despite sending out waitlists and acceptances over a month ago. I don't get why they need to hold back all these rejections...

FYI - I decided to bite the bullet and email Berkeley about the status of my application. I'm not one of those who was waitlisted early in February.  I'll let you all know the results of the email, if I get any.

Still presuming I'm rejected from NYU, but can't make visiting and moving plans until I have it confirmed and can rule out having to make a visit. These mid-March notifications are pretty rough.

Well, I was told that decisions were ongoing, not just that decisions would not yet be released. So if this phrasing is deliberate, and they're not lying, then I think they must still be making some final decisions. Or so I hope, anyway.

Well, I solicited a decision from NYU, from which I presumed I was rejected, and was told that decisions were ongoing and would be released by mid-March. So for all those of us still waiting, there's a chance.

I imagine once NYU releases decisions, it'll get the waitlist chain rolling for the rest of the schools.  Hopefully they release soon.

NYU is really taking their sweet time this year.

No words about my application either... We might hear soon.

Hi there! I'm turning 30 this May. I'm married and have a 2-year-old son, and I've been out of graduate school since 2013 working as a museum educator and adjunct instructor of history. So while this isn't my first grad app go-'round, it's my first as a wife, parent, and full-time worker. I'm thankful for reading all of your stories. I'm pretty young-hearted (read: am a consummate hipster) but intend to move to Ireland with my son alone, so I'll be juggling motherhood and study.

Me too! Now it has me irrationally hoping that I just *might* get the golden ticket ...

I'm from the previous season, but I'm Iranian-Canadian and LGBT. The visa ban has me functionally trapped in the US for now - while dual nationals are ostensibly fine, the situation is too unstable for me to risk leaving the country. If conditions for me continue to deteriorate, though (there are rumours of a massive anti-LGBT executive order in the works, for example), I think it's genuinely possible I'll be forced to drop out for my own safety and go back to Toronto.
