Firlim started following United Nations University Tokyo MSc any good? and United Nations University HQ, anyone?
-
I am thinking of applying for the PhD in sustainability Sciences at the United Nations University HQ in Tokyo Japan and having hard time to find graduates to whom I can talk to. I want to inquire upon few things and would like to have some feedbacks: - The curriculum seems broad, I could not find the PhD brochures or any details about the curriculum/ courses offered? - The quality of the Lecturers and the Diploma as a whole? How does it rank internationally? - Does the diploma help you secure a job at the UN system or prestigious research centres afterwards? - The potential scholarship offered, would be for sure competitive, but my question if you secure it, is it enough to cover all the expenses in a big metropole such as Tokyo? Any reply is very much appreciated!

United Nations University Tokyo MSc any good?
Firlim replied to Meghana S's topic in Interdisciplinary Studies
Hi Meghana S, did you end up going to the UNU for your Masters? I am thinking of applying for the PhD in sustainability Sciences and finding it though to find graduates. I am also not sure about few things such as how the curriculum is broad and don't offer technical majors as well as the tight scholarship offer for a very expensive metropole such as Tokyo, this in case ones got the scholarship. Your reply is very much appreciated!- 1 reply

Thank you @awrochon for your answer! It really helps! I did email the EACEA they said that it's fine I don't have to worry and that I need to check directly with the programs to know more, emailed my first choice program they don't answer my email or those of friends! then did freak out a bit and emailed my second choice program, before reading your comment, and said that I duly accept their offer but may withdraw ... not wise, not wise at all but I thought that I need to do it for some reasons *** PS: to the next candidate do not do that !!*** despite being understanding I felt like they slightly weren't happy to hear that! But I got my acceptance letter anyway today which was a big relief. Thank you again @awrochon

What should I do to prevent that from happening, do I need to email my first program choice my second or the eacea?? Thank you

Hi @yosoypao and @awrochon well I am just curious how it went for you last year? I am at the exact same position and was looking for some hope ! I applied for Erasmus MER (Marine and Environmental Resources) and MSP ( Maritime and Spatial Planning), I am in the waiting list under Geographical windows for the first one waiting the EACEA decision till May and I didn't hear from the second one yet. Hope you both are accepted and enrolling in your chosen programs by now. Cheers!

Firlim replied to moates2013's topic in Waiting it Out
Hi all, I just found this forum, oh God I feel less alone I applied for Erasmus MER and MSP program. I am in the reserve list for the MER scholarship (Geographical Windows) waiting May for the final EACEA decision and I didn't hear from the MSP program yet ( MSc on Maritime Spatial Planning ). Did someone here applied to this program?? In the Letter I received from the MER secretariat late Feb they advised me to look for Scholarships so I can attend the program because they are not sure all the Geographical Windows would get one. Thus, I've been looking and contacting universities for financial aid in vain :/ @nautilus90 did you look for alternative scholarships?- 49 replies
