Given this information, I think you have even less of a choice here. The only chance you can be fully funded at your first choice school is to accept its offer right now to secure the internal funding, then move on to secure the governmental funding. If all you want is to get into this school, then I guess you would have to prepare for the worst and maybe reapply next year if you can't secure the governmental funding. However, it appears that your ultimate goal is to attend graduate school this year. The only way you can guarantee that is to accept the offer from your second choice school. P.S. The third option is to accept both offers right now, but would it be possible? I know it's definitely not ethical, but can somebody actually do that?

I wonder if anybody on this forum is going to UCalgary this Fall? I am graduating from University of Saskatchewan in two months and will move on to the PhD program in Organizational Behaviour at Haskayne.

there are several videos and instructions right on Mendeley website for you to look at. you can also just google if you have very specific questions. as @fuzzylogician said, the rule of thumb is to do your own back-up at multiple places. Mendeley does have automatic online back-up function and they give each free user 2GB of online storage, Mendeley also stores all your pdfs locally in a folder that you specify. what you can do is to save several copies of that whole folder at multiple places: cloud storage (Dropbox, Box, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.) on your work computer as well as personal computer (if you have more than one) different drives in your computer (if you have multiple) on external hard drives (you should have at least one of this) If you have a close friend who is interested and you can trust, you guys may look into CrashPlan. they have a free function where you and your friend install CrashPlan on your computers and connect, then it will automatically back-up your data onto your friend's computer and your friend's data onto your computer

what is your program? I will also join UCalgary this Fall, and I'm also waiting if I can move up for the CGS-M

Highly recommend Mendeley. It's not the most advance citation manager but very user-friendly and great for collaboration with others, and it's free too. You may start there and then migrate to a different system once you know what you look for or what features you need most.

I emailed the Graduate Scholarship Office at UCalgary to ask and they said that their policy does not allow disclosure of any ranking of any scholarship competition, so I can only wait and see.

I was offered CGS-M at one university and alternate at 2 others. Unfortunately, the university I'm attending only put me as an alternate. Final decision on admission has been made so I can't change the past anymore, really hope that I can move up.
