Hello,
For those of you with skype interviews....were you given the option to interview in person?

Magoosh all the way!! They have phone apps, books, online resources, etc.
Thanks! That's great. I'm gonna look into their study material.

Can anyone recommend study material that actually helped improve their scores. My scores expire this year and if I dont get accepted i have to retake it. ?

No, I ended up just doing my own research about it before I applied! Have you heard anything about the program? Did you apply there as well?
I was going to apply but then realized I was applying to their regular program and not their distance program.

I think it went well! I was nervous but not too bad... the interview was very straightforward and really focused on the things they said they would in the email. Fingers crossed... I'll send thank yous in the morning Tonight, I'm having ravioli and wine to celebrate having that out of the way, at least.
That's great! Fingers crossed!

I also was contacted for an interview -- mine is tomorrow. They're doing them last week and this. I'm working on prep right now, and trying not to be nervous. ?
Good luck! Let us know how it goes!

Should I update my transcripts even if the school I'm applying to doesn't require fall 2018 grades? My app has already been verified, so will the academic update make my application unverified?
I would call or email Csdcas before updating especially since the school doesn't require those grades.

I would try to meet with an admission advisor at one of the schools you're applying to and ask their opinion. I think getting a second bachelors is too much. Have you considered getting a tutor for the GRE and trying to raise your score to 155+ or applying to less competitive schools? Most online programs are really competitive, perhaps a traditional school will be a better fit.
I'm actually like 3 classes away from qualifying for a 2nd bachlors... I'm just curious as to what it will do for my gpa and how an admission committee views it. A distance program is my only option right now and as for the gre.... I'll have to start studying for that again bc after this year my scores will be over 5 years old. ?

I was contacted for an interview. Not sure how many they are interviewing. I was told that if a spot is offered I would be contacted around early to mid- February. Keep in mind that not everyone accepts an offer. I've seen many applicants get into a grad program after being pulled off of waitlist.
Congratulations on the interview! If you dont mind sharing... when is it? In person, phone, Skype?

I'm applying for Fall 2019 also. Has anyone done or know someone whose done the 2nd bachelors program?
-
Hi. Does anyone have experience with this? Im applying to grad school and not getting in. I've been waitlisted several times and increasing my last 60 hours gps has gotten me within 3 classes=9 credits of obtaining a second bachelors. What will this do for me? Thanks for your help!

Did you take all of your pre-reqs from ENMU? You never know what will happen with the waitlist and you could still get an acceptance letter or 2!
I didn't. i took all the rest at a local school. That was a mistake. ENMU was a way better experience. Anyways, funny you should reply bc I was about to jump in on your questions about your transcript pts question. Not sure if this helps but an A is worth 12 points, b is 9 and a C is 6 and a D is 3. My transcript from ENMU gives me credit total, points total and gpa. Yours doesn't? I wanted to try and help answer your question....lol

HI everyone,
I am in my 3rd round of applications and i already have been rejected from my top school and waitlisted at another. I am still waiting to hear from 1 more school and still working on applying to a couple of more schools this round. I was talking to some family members who were asking why is it so hard to get accepted. I know a big part of my answer was because I have a low gpa from my bachelors degree, 2.7. I have worked really hard to raise my last 60 hours gpa to a still low 3.4 but I worked hard for it. I have retaken 2 speech courses that I initially recieved C's in and have also taken classes that are not required in the state of Texas to have a SLP assistance license. Oh and I have 4 years of experience as a speech assistance in schools. My question to all you wonderful speechies is if this is what is keeping me from being accepted. Is my low undergraduate gpa like a sore thumb sticking out? I have looked in to getting a second bachelors from ENMU in communication disorders and I believe I only need 3 more courses to achieve it. Will this help me become a better applicant? What do you guys think?

Btw, excuse my lack of punctuation/grammar. Writing this while stuck in traffic.
Thank you. No problem. your info has given me a lot to think about. I checked out the price for Emerson and it said it was $67,544 for the course of the program, is this right?. I know some programs can go up to $100,000 for the program. I guess i really don't know how much a graduate program is supposed to cost.... Yikes.

I wasn’t. It was the one who started the thread, MomofTwo I think who was accepted to Emerson. I only applied to TWU. I wrote about my caseload and the current status of the SLPs changing every year due to the workload and that 90% or so of our students are below federal poverty level and we are literally the ONLY source of therapy. We’ve seen an increase in severe disorders- I’m talking students who have feeding tubes! Right now they are half day PPCD but before we know it they will be full time at school and we need more than one slp in my rural district to provide services. I’ve also been there in the same district 4 years, outlasting all of my SLP supervisors.
Whoops! Sorry but thank you for your info. I'm struggling to make more of a connection with my LOI.

Congrats! Wishing you all the best!!
I just checked my email after I just now read your post and I got accepted too!!!! lol I’m so excited. I got accepted to Emerson online as well but was waiting to hear back from TWU!
Congratulations of both your acceptances!
I'm thinking of applying to Emerson by the 15th and was looking for some advice on the application and specifically your LOI.....if you had the chance.

Yes!!! Please do!
Hello! I think I saw that you were also accepted to Emerson. I am thinking of applying by the 15th. I have a phone meeting with someone tomorrow and was hoping for a little advice about the application. The only thing I have to work on is the LOI. I have a rough draft but I'm guessing it's not interesting enough. My story of getting inspired to be an SLP is not that dramatic....
Anything would help.

Bump! Has anyone on here visited or attended Emerson College for speech? I'm applying to Emerson now, and would love to hear thoughts about their program!
What do you really like about the program? And, while we're at it, what don't you like about it?
Hello. Did anyone get back to you about Emerson on any other topic? I'm interested in this info as well.

I’m so sorry girl! Take the time you need but don’t let it get you down! I never thought I would get into a program but it is possible!
Thanks. I'm pretty sad about it but I'm already on a waitlist for another school and I still have a few more applications to submit. Have a great holiday.
