  1. Hi All, I am a bit nervous about my application as I will have only worked in a chem lab and I want to go into Biochemistry or Biological sciences. I'm not sure if this will be a disadvantage for my application. I am planning on taking my GREs again in October, so hopefully that should go up. Undergrad Institution: Marymount University (small lib arts private school)Major(s): Biochemistry (Honors Program)GPA in Major: 3.7Overall GPA: 3.6Type of Student: Domestic, female, minority (asian)GRE Scores (revised/old version):Q: 158V: 152W: 4Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Biochemistry Academic Excellence, 2016, Deans List 7/8 semestersPertinent Activities or Jobs: Research assistant for a clinical research institute and my Honors thesis was based on Bioethics.Any Miscellaneous Accomplishments that Might Help: Currently working in a government analytical chemistry lab for a year now and I am working on a project that will possibly published. Will get recommendation from supervisor, previous supervisor, and previous professor.Applying to Where: Indiana University (Indianapolis) UC Davis (top 3) NYU (top 3 / would like to go here and do their Global PhD) University of Florida Uni of Oregon Schools I am not sure about: University of Southern California Wakeforest UC San Diego Emory Are there any other schools I should be looking into with my stats and experience? Any feedback for the schools listed? If anyone knows anything about the two different program Indiana offers, in Bloomington and Indianapolis, can you please explain the major differences with the programs? Also, any additional feedback is welcome. Thanks!
  2. So, I just took my GRE this past weekend, got above 70th percentile for Quant but around 60th percentile for Verbal. Will this score and my shortage of experience in a biology lab be a disadvantage? I'm mainly concerned because schools seem to put a lot of emphasis on evaluating students on their prior research experience. Thank you for your responses!
  3. I'm mainly worried about my GRE scores. What percentile do you think is a good range for all program?
  4. Hi everyone, I'm planning on applying to a Biochem program for fall 2018, but I am very much concerned about if my situation will even put me in the game or if I have a chance at admission and interviews. So I have been working in a small government chemistry lab for almost 1 year, with possibly 1 publication in the near future. I was hoping taking two years and getting some experience in the field would help my application, but I am not sure if working in a chem lab is any helpful since I want to be in a bio lab. Will this be disadvantageous towards my application? This is one of my main concerns, which is the reason I am looking for positions in a bio related lab. I also interned as a research assistant during my undergrad at a clinical research institute and was also a lab assistant for my undergrad Bio department. I graduated from a liberal arts school and had a cumulative GPA of 3.63 and science GPA of 3.68, obviously not much different. I'm planning to take my GRE at the end of this month, but I'm terrified that if I don't get around the 80% percentile, then I won't have any chances with everything else in my application. I would love to go to UC Davis, but I also have many other schools in mind like: - Temple Uni- Uni of Colorado- Bolder -UC San Fran - UC Santa Barbara - Indiana - Wakeforest Uni - Rockefeller - NYU - Uni of Florida - Darthmouth Does anyone have any advice for this daunting process? Feel free to share any experiences or impressions about schools and programs. Thank you!!
  5. Congrats on your interviews! I am starting my application this summer and I have somewhat similar stats but haven't taken my GREs yet, do you mind disclosing your GRE percentile range ? So far, I've read higher GRE really helps with getting fellowships and other financial benefits. But I just want to compare everything along with the test scores so I know where I stand and what I need (at min) to get for an admission or interview.
