Hey y'all! I'm meeting with the program director of one of the program's that accepted me later today, and I was wondering what you guys think are the most important things to discuss? I have some questions about funding and cohort size, but I'd like to use this opportunity to get as much information as I can, especially as I won't be able to attend any open days before making my decision. appreciate any insights!

I think it might be more useful to try to get a job in research or something related to your academic interests. I applied for PhD programs - unsuccessfully - a few years ago, did a Master's instead, then worked in research before applying again this year and getting two offers so far.

where did you get the info that they sent out 35 acceptances?

as offers are starting to come in for some of us, what universities do you think offer the most generous stipends? what would be a minimum for you to attend a school, and what do you think is the most one can negotiate? also, how is the stipend taxed (& do the same rules apply for international students?) anyone know any good resources?

When do you guys expect to hear back from other schools you applied to? I know HYP typically dont send acceptances til pretty late right? like late march?

This is my second time applying after a brutal 2020-2021 application cycle where I was waitlisted at two schools and rejected everywhere else. Back then, some professors of mine pointed to a huge increase in applications and less available spots as an explanation for the low acceptance rates. Do you guys have a hunch for how competitive this year's cycle might be, given less people are unemployed and things may be more stable for departments in comparison to the 2020-2021 cycle? I'm hoping the odds aren't stacked against our favor as much this year, but what do I know....

I'm applying to 11 schools this cycle, I don't know if that's considered over-applying. Anxious to hear back!
