  1. I'm feeling the same way. Applied to 12 programs and have only gotten rejections so far (and a lot of not hearing anything while others received acceptances so that's that). Currently wondering if it'd make sense to apply next year given how crazy this cycle was, or if it makes more sense to maybe wait two years given that a lot of people who didn't get in this year might apply next year and thus drive up applications again. This is all speculation though -- do others feel similarly? Are you planning on reapplying next year? The year after?
  2. does that mean they'll accept 8 people total? or more assuming some will accept other offers?
  3. In case anyone is interested, applications to Michigan almost tripled this year.
  4. anybody else feeling particularly anxious today?
  5. personally i wouldnt bank on princeton releasing decisions tomorrow. in the past (except the last 2-3 years) it seems like they have released decisions way later and given covid.... im gonna try to just enjoy the weekend before getting my dreams crushed next week.
  6. in previous years, how many people typically claimed results from the results page? I find it hard to imagine that so many people post their admissions decisions on the results page and aren't actually active in the forum?
  7. Is anyone here seeing a decision on their applyweb portals for princeton? How do people see these rejections? I'm confused because I don't even know where to look for a rejection?
  8. do programs usually send out offers all at once? throughout a day? throughout a couple days? anybody got any insights?
  9. how long does it take for schools to send out all admissions decisions? alternate wording: when the first acceptance posts go up on the results page and i havent heard anything from that school, does that seal my fate?
  10. Can a single person submit four different acceptances? i dont really know how the results page works
  11. Do people think this could also be related to people generally applying to far more program this cycle? I've seen many people state they applied to up to 15 programs which is far higher than usual.
  12. This is probably purely speculative, but do you guys think that admissions committees give special consideration to a LOR written by a (recent or not so recent) graduate of their program? What about faculty who previously taught at the institution?
  13. Thanks y'all. I managed to write a good (new) SOP that's half the legnth and I'm gonna submit it, even though it was really annoying
  14. I just got done writing my SOP for one of the school's I'm applying to, and I just now realized this school is asking applicants to submit an SOP that's 2 pages double spaced or less. The one I wrote is 2 pages single spaced. To fit my research interests, experience, and future goals all in 2 pages double spaced I'd have to cut more than half of my existing statement, so I'm wondering how common it is for applicants to "make mistakes" and just submit an SOP that doesn't entirely adhere to the university's standards? I feel like my application will be much weaker if I only submit half of my SOP...
  15. MIT's Ph.D. application requires applicants to fill out what subjects they've taken. The instructions say "Please list all subjects, not just those relevant to political science." My question is, do they want us to list every class we've ever taken? Every subject area we've taken classes in? It also asks to list Textbooks etc., which is information I don't have for all of my classes... Is anybody else applying to MIT? What are you putting in for this?
  16. Does anyone know if Cornell specifies its rules about writing samples somewhere? I've spent hours looking at various websites but I can't find any information on how long my writing sample should be. If they really don't specify, what do you guys think is a good length?
  17. Does anyone here have any personal contacts to admissions departments (at schools where the deadlines have passed by now)? I'm curious if more or less people applied this year because of the pandemic...
  18. Hi everybody! Does anyone know if applications are typically due on midnight the day of (/the night before), or if we have all day on the due date to work on our applications and submit them at 11:59pm like I'm planning on doing?
