  1. I got off the waitlist for Laurier’s 2-year MSW program :D.
  2. I’m going to Orillia Lakehead and would also like to know .
  3. Does anyone know how the selection process works once one is on the waitlist? Do they choose you based on your random position on the list or do they assess you in comparison to everyone else?
  4. I just got an email notifying me that I am on Lauriers waitlist for the 2 year full-time MSW program.
  5. I am on the Orillia campus. Ya in retrospect this route is actually a great option. I heard that because the classes you’re in enrolled in while completing placement are online, that you could do placement in your hometown. I live at home right now, so only having to move for 6 months would save me money!
  6. Guys! Lakehead has sent out decisions for their 1-year BSW program. Accepted!! Yay. I was rejected from Carleton, Windsor, York, and Western. I’m waiting for Laurier. But I feel extremely relieved that I got my backup.
  7. I’ve also heard that about practicum options! But you’re so right in that it would be an MSW after all is said and done. Plus I’m from London, so the commute wouldn’t be too bad!
  8. Yes. I applied to Carleton (rejected), King’s (Rejected), Windsor, York, Lakehead 1-year BSW and Laurier. Honestly, after being rejected at King’s and Carleton (the two I was most confident about) I am not too optimistic for York or Laurier acceptance.
  9. Windsor was also going to be my saving grace as I’ve heard not a lot of people apply there. However after reading this forum it seems it may be quite competitive as someone stated double the number of applicants applied this year.
  10. It is. I’m actually really frustrated with the process at this point. It would be nice to know what they’re expecting/looking for. Online it said that approximately 1,000 hours is recommended to be competitive. I guess it depends on the applicant pool.
  11. I know I am wondering the same thing. My stomach is flipping!
  12. Thank-you! Is there many previous King’s students in the 2-year program?
  13. Samantha from King’s told me that decisions should be made by early March. Since this week technically starts March (on Thursday) I have been compulsively checking my email and student centre. Gah. I am really banking on King’s, especially since that is where I did my undergrad. Did you end up going to King’s?
  14. Sooo stressful. I’m hoping Westerns decisions come out next week!
  15. Western should be out by the beginning of March. I know some peers of mine who applied to the 1-year program and received an email today indicating that they have been waitlisted.
  16. Does anyone have any insight into how King’s (Western) weighs GPA? I have one grade that tanks my GPA. I was thinking of writing a formal letter to explain the circumstances that lead to that one low grade. Any insight would be great
  17. I kind of wish I applied to U of T for that reason. I applied to York, Laurier, Windsor, Western, and Lakehead (backup). Western decIsions are supposed to be out by the beginning of March. Western also only admits like 15 people for 1-year and 2-year. Do you know how applicants Laurier and York typically admit?
  18. Awe thank-you. That means a lot and does restore some hope for me. Carleton was also the first application that I did and I feel that my statement of intent improved each time. Plus maybe other schools are more holistic in assessing their applications. Western’s seems to be veryyyy holistic.
  19. It was not my first choice as it would require me to move 7-8 hours away. But I was getting acquainted with the idea of living in Ottawac, as well as looking forward to being accepted to make the next few months less nerve racking. I guess it just wasn’t meant to be for us in Ottawa. The more I think about it, the more I have come to terms with it. In fact, it might be good in the grand scheme of things; less choices we’ll have to make once all decisions are out. I really hope you do get accepted into Laurier too. I also put my eggs in the Western, Laurier, York, and Windsor baskets- so hopefully one of those pans out for me. Is this your first year applying?
  20. I got an email but it is also update on Carleton central. I’d say no news is good news for you at this point :)!
  21. I also got my rejection letter for Carleton . Sigh. Makes me feel hopeless for my other applications. Anyone know of anyone that’s been rejected at Carleton but admitted elsewhere?
  22. Guys!! This week could be the week we finally hear something from Carleton! THE SUSPENSE IS KILLING ME! Lol
