  1. Thanks Rockybaby -- honestly the only reason I'm going for my MSW though is that no social work job would take me with my background bc it's so heavily language and education-focused, so this is a great first! A single acceptance after a string of rejections for the last few years, and it feels so good!
  2. I submitted it on Dec 1 but had recurring electronic submission problems with one of my transcripts, so they didn't officially receive the whole thing until December 11. I had a 3.89 undergrad GPA and a 4.0 master's in an unrelated field (applied linguistics), and have worked abroad for 3.5 years with an education NGO in Indonesia and 2.5 years with another one in Afghanistan. BTW, my application was to the online MSW program so I wonder if they have a different timeline for that. I've heard from my SW professor friend that they are really trying to amp up this new program. So don't feel bad if yours is still coming -- I'm guessing the NY campus is more competitive and taking them longer to process.
  3. Hi everyone! I just heard back from Columbia and got accepted! I'm floored! No info on financial aid, which will determine whether or not I actually go, but this made my day! Email directing me to the website arrived an hour ago. Good luck to everyone!
  4. Thanks! I sent an email. About 12 hours after I turned in my application, the X disappeared. Not sure if it was because of the email or just a glitch that cleared itself up.
  5. Hi everyone, Thanks abswk for your response -- I checked in again 5 hours later and the X has disappeared, yay! I'm not sure if it's because I had emailed someone in the department about it or if it just took a little time for my application to register. By the way, I too only applied to Columbia because I heard that there is good financial aid for the online program . (Not sure if that's actually true though, a friend told me that her friend had heard about it.) Does anyone else know of programs that have a history of giving good financial aid, especially online programs? I don't want to go back into heavy debt for school, so I'm basing my decision on whether I go at all on how much I'd get.
  6. i everyone, I just turned in my application for Columbia (just before the priority deadline, hehe) and am a little concerned because when the final page popped up with my application number, there was a red X next to "personal statement" with the word "awaiting" on it. I wrote three essays but don't remember a place for a separate personal statement. If the personal statement means the essays, I'm confused -- the preview of the application proof shows my three essays, plus my resume, was properly submitted, so why do I have an X there? Did anyone else get this or know what it might mean? Good luck, everyone!
