I went to Chicago MAPSS, which greatly improved my scholar knowledge and competitiveness. I think I can post better data from our program director later when results are mostly coming out.

I went to MAPSS and has had the best ever intellectual/mentorship experience with my thesis adviser (Robert Gulotty). Though I mostly produced a good thesis (accepted to many national conferences) through my own effort, his guidance is certainly what makes everything possible.

Nope, it was not an interview. He was introduced to me by my adviser and we had a Skype talk about my research last December. He also happens to sit on this year's Ad Committee.

I just graduated from MAPSS this year, so apparently we had some similar experience at Chicago. I immensely appreciate and value what I have got out of MAPSS--doctoral-level core seminars + an emphasis on methods training+ an amazing thesis adviser (Robert Gulotty).

Both are great programs! WIsh you are having a great time in Boston! Just admitted to Duke, so I guess I may sit in a similar boat again this time.

I was just told by my POI from Berkeley that the admission results would be announced early next week. So, we might need to wait for a little bit.

Not really. But according to my interviewers, the results should come out in the next day or two.

From what I was told, I think UCSD doesn't interview everyone.

I did my UCSD interview yesterday. They said they are interviewing a couple of people now, and the results shall be announced within 3-4 days.

I did MAPSS (like CIR) focusing on IPE. Definitely CIR, a no-brainer choice.

I am doing IPE too and come from China, though I did my undergrad and MA both at top-tier US colleges. I believe if you can produce a stellar MA thesis, at least from what I was told from my adviser (a leading scholar in IPE from Stanford), this will help a lot in top-20's admissions. I don't think Peking/Tsinghua's 3.5 would be a big negative, considering you lifted it up through a MA program. For Chinese foreign policy, why not consider programs like UCSD too?
