When you're patiently waiting on additional offers.............. so you can release an offer to someone who may be anxiously on a waitlist..................... This process is brutal and unfair af, to everyone involved honestly.

Yes, I got a call from my POI on Friday saying first round offers have gone out. He made it sound like not all faculty were able to make offers in the first round, but that they nearly always go into the waitlist. (They publish their stats on this - it looks like only ~50% of people offered admission accept the offer)

if you get rejected by that many places maybe you are not a very good student and would make a terrible psychologist. Please consider another career.
