those who are taking econ at carleton this summer, are you planing on doing the online course or the in-class? I live in ottawa so would be able to do either, does anyone have any suggestions?

one is with Prof. Brian Glabb and the other is with Prof. Troy Joseph if anyone had taken with either of these profs

I am taking the online one because I live near Toronto.

I'm planning on taking it through Carleton, I don't know if that's the easiest way to do it or not though? I was just reading and if I take it through Carleton and I can't be in class for the exams I have to get a proctor to watch when I write the exam. I just don't know how registration works.

I was thinking of Carleton too. I've read mixed things about the Carleton course though. Apparently its really difficult and it's harder than the Athabasca course.

    Hi everyone,

I contacted NPSIA and was informed that a research scholarship is an RAship that involves 120 hours (or 5 hours a week) of research activities either with a prof within your specialization or within one of the research units (the centres are here: https://carleton.ca/npsia/research/research-centres/).

    Exciting stuff!

I just contacted NPSIA and I got more information on the research scholarship. This is exactly what they said:

"In your case, this is in fact a straight scholarship, not a research position. We only had a small number of the latter and could not offer them from the outset as part of all funding packages. My apologies for the slight confusion. As a result of the strike of our administrative colleagues, some information was not properly included in the offers."

This is just extra info for anyone that also got the research scholarship

    congrats!

i also received this and am wondering what it is/entails :)

I have also decided I am no longer interested in the field I chose. Does anyone know if there is a possibility to change this? If I choose not to do the field (not fulfill the requirements) am i at a disadvantage in any way?

What field did you get into and why are you no longer interested in it if you don't mind me asking? Based on my research the research scholarship is different than a position (I think). I still have no idea what that means, so I'll email NPSIA admin shortly.

Rejected this morning.  Not feeling too bad as my main goal was to get into law school (and I received my first acceptance last week).  The combined degree would have been a lot of fun, but not to be.  Congrats to all selected!

Congrats on the law school acceptance! That's a big accomplishment itself!

I wish I had applied to other schools now. I was pretty much banking on Munk. Congrats on NPSIA!

I am going to keep my name on the list just in case I change my mind. However, I think this may be a sign that Ottawa is calling my name ?. Congrats to everyone that got in and the very best of luck to those still waiting on a response! ☺

For those of us who received an unofficial offer a few weeks ago and have not received an official offer yet, I just checked my status on Carleton Central and my application status has changed to "Review in progress by Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Affairs", and my specialization says International Development Policy. Hopefully this is a good sign, and we'll be receiving our official offers soon!

Mine has changed as well to intelligence and international affairs!

Feeling super crushed today...I have not heard back from Munk yet, nor have I been invited to the program on Acorn. Super super devastated.

Hold your horses! Don't feel devastated! I emailed them on Friday and they said that decisions will be made next week (so beginning Monday I guess). There's still hope you got in, although I understand it can be stressful :) Have you applied to any other programs?

@sunshine18 From what I have seen on previous threads, the "invited" should appear below "Degree Registration Status." I am not sure how to get to Acorn but I guess you can just type it out on google and get to the acorn login page? Hope this helps.

Thanks. I do not have 'invited' either. I guess in a few days we'll find out. I got into NPSIA so I wouldn't feel too bad if I didn't get but obviously I would be disappointed because Munk was originally my first choice. Lets hope we get in!

Congrats to everyone who got in so far!!!

Reading your stories inspired me to check acorn, and I found that I was listed as 'invited' to the MGA program. I have not received an official acceptance letter yet.

Has anyone who received offers heard anything about funding? Will they include this info in the letter?

Where specifically on ACORN do you go to check?
