  1. Hey @RubberBand! I just applied to UT Austin through URTAS and there was no mention of the GRE. In fact all of the programs I've looked at don't have a requirement that their directing applicants take the GRE. So I believe you are in the clear!
  2. Submitted my Yale app yesterday and URTA letters of interest today, thus the waiting game begins! Hope everyone is thriving out there!
  3. Good luck to those out there getting their Yale application in under the wire! I, for one, threw out the essay I spent weeks drafting to start completely over this morning! Yay!
  4. @andy4222, I did! Submitted my app just before the late deadline, and will be eyeing 3 schools to write letters of interest to: Iowa, Northwestern, & UT Austin. How about you?
  5. Hey @Phoebe87 I don't know much about either of those programs, but have heard good things about Brooklyn College. I might see if you can get a hold of an alum to talk about their experiences with those schools, or scour previous MFA directing threads, they go back a few years. Throwing out positive vibes too all my fellow applicants who are staring that URTA deadline down the barrel this weekend! I am with you!
  6. Hey @KillerWingfield! Doing alright. Currently trying to draft my essays for URTAS as well. I am a TALKER when I write, so I am trying to keep things concise but still insightful and its a challenge. I am especially disturbed by the fact that our URTA recommenders don't get notifications to submit their letters until we submit our entire completed application! So I am trying to light a fire under myself and get these wrapped up sooner rather than later. The URTAS and Yale deadlines so close together are kind of killing me.
  7. Hey @espooky! I visited Yale 2 years ago and listened to them explain their financial aid approach and honestly it is really confusing. From what I remember everyone who attends Yale with the intention of getting scholarships must submit FAFSA, including the financial information, tax returns, about their parents (regardless of your age or independence from them, Yale is big on considering generational wealth). Then they decide on an aid package for you. If you are able to demonstrate a significant amount of need, then I think you will have to pay $9000 your freshman year, but then the school supports you through the rest of your time there, but if I am remembering correctly, everyone pays at least the $9000. This is my recollection from a 20 minute presentation, 2 years ago so I could be completely wrong, but that's what I remember.
  8. Hey y'all! Back at it again at Krispy Kreme! I applied to Yale 2 years ago and got an interview, then was rejected. Had full intentions to apply last year, but figured I could use another year out in the wild, so now I'm back! No more ghosting, I have internal deadlines set up and already reached out to letter recommenders, so I am in this baby! Here are the schools on my list: Yale, URTAS (UT Austin & Iowa in particular), Washington, Hawaii, and Carnegie Mellon. UGH feels like a lot, but also not comprehensive.... I am really on the fence about URTAS, So I am looking for advice. Do folks know if individual schools place as much weight on applications to their school from URTAS, or are they more interested in applicants who apply directly to their schools? I would hate to miss out on UT Austin or Iowa because I got lost in the URTA shuffle.
  9. Hello Team! Good to be back! This is my second year applying to grad schools. Last year I was directing a full length during applications, so I only applied to Yale. I got an interview, so that was promising, but was rejected after that. This year I am planning on applying to Brown, Columbia, Northwestern, with a side trip to URTAS in Chicago. I am approaching this year with a little more confidence in myself and a stiffer upper lip for inevitable rejection (easy to say now). Starting a little slow this year, but hoping to jump into drafting and compiling tomorrow. Eek!
  10. Oh my gosh @Theater Maker, congratulations! Im so excited for you! I hope all goes well, will be sending good vibes.
  11. No word from Yale yet. Hoping for some closure soon :/
  12. @Squidpunk They had another Brown audition day in Chicago that a friend of mine went to, that might account for the low number?
  13. Oh my gosh @Squidpunk congratulations! That is really incredible, I will be really into picking your brain about how it went (if you're into that) hopefully for next year because.... I have also not heard anything about the second round from Yale. I see you @MadamDirector, best of luck with this month, you're killing it girl! Which means I am out for this season. (I only applied to one school because of a show I was opening in December). I'm looking to go full force next year, so until then, break legs everyone I wish you the best!
  14. @Hamidoo Of course! Same to you! @MadamDirector Sending you good vibes for your interview today! (Right?) Hope all goes well!
  15. @per4mance Thank you for your insight, much appreciated! Best of luck! @hamidoo I second what @madamDirector said! The past forums are a goldmine of information.
  16. Oh good, I'll practice some patience with it then. My Interview is in Chicago on Jan 20th Break a leg on yours!
  17. @per4mance Would you feel comfortable articulating a little bit about your needs/style/interest? If you aren't comfortable that is totally fine, I was just curious if there are any insights you received from your interview with Yale that gave you a fuller perspective on the program. People who have interviews with Yale, have you received confirmation emails about that yet? I got my phone call Dec 20th, and they said that they probably wouldn't get emails out with more info until after break. Just wanted to check in to see if anyone else has gotten a follow up email. I am probably just being paranoid, but I'm starting to worry that I haven't seen it yet.
  18. Hey Y'all, I've been a bit of a lurker, but I just got the call this morning from Yale for an interview. I'm a human shaped ball of nerves, shock and excitement right now. About to dive deep into interview research and practice. Any tips/advice?
