  1. Congrats! You will definitely hear from more schools with good news! I also just received the official offer package from U of Maryland at Baltimore. Their package is very attractive (actually it is the highest I have had so far), but the safety issue is a major concern. No updates from UT-Austin yet.
  2. Which one are you still waiting for? I am also waitlisted at UT-Austin.
  3. I certainly hope that UT-Austin would get me off the waitlist... However, I have spoken with OSU's faculty and current students. They have been so warm and welcoming to me, which makes me tend so much more to accept it than merely just wait anxiously for a hope.
  4. Go Buckeyes! Congrats on the offer!! We may become classmates this fall. I think I am about to take up the offer.
  5. HI @SocialW, Congrats!! Me also got the offer yesterday!! Are you taking the offer? It seems that the offer package is lower than previous years, according to the feedback from current students.
  6. Hey I am also waitlisted...sigh... UT-Austin is my top choice, so I already wrote them an email enquiring about the chance of getting in. I certainly hope that both of us will be able to get in! I have received offers from two other schools. I am a bit worried if it is worthwhile to keep waiting for UT-Austin.
  7. Hi all, I have sent emails to program directors inquiring about when will the admission results be announced. Here are some replies: UT-Austin: Mid Feb UIUC: Around Mid to late Feb UMaryland-Baltimore: roughly 6 weeks from now. Good luck to all of us!
  8. Hi all, I just received an email from OSU, offering me an admission to the school's MSW-PHD program. It also says that I will be nominated for the University's fellowship. The funding package is to be released no later than mid March. I could not be happier to receive such a good news, yet I am also a bit confused. I actually have a master's degree, which is in the name of master of social science in social work but basically it is equivalent to an MSW. Why does the school still offer me admission to MSW-PHD program? I have many more to ask since I want to know more about the school. Should I just write directly to the PhD program director? I will also keep waiting for responses from other schools. Cheers everyone!
  9. You Got it right! I graduated from CUHK hahaha... Yes, as you mentioned, it is not easy to find potential supervisors with similar interests in the US. I had quite a hard time screening suitable programs actually... I did not apply for schools in UK. Most of the schools in UK simply do not offer any scholarships to international students. The cost is just too high! I found much information from this website: http://www.gadephd.org/ Hi! @SocialResearcher Most of the programs do not interview applicants, as far as I am concerned. I was told repeatedly that what matters is the way you present yourself, and "fitness" to the program. Let us keep each other updated.
  10. Hi @DisasterBin and all, I am so glad that I finally find this thread! I am an international applicant applying to PhD in Social Work Programs this year. It is so great to have so many peers who share the same interest in a doctoral degree in social work/ social welfare. Stats: GRE: V157 + Q166 + AW4.0 TOEFL: 111, R 30, L 28, S 24, W 29 I got my BSW in China and my master degree in Hong Kong, and I have 3 years of working experience (including 1 yr RA experience and 2 yrs practice experience). This is also my first time applying for PhD programs. My GPA does not seem good enough (3.48/4.0 undergrad and 3.03/4.0 grad) and I don't have any publication. I am now super anxious about the applications. Any information shared would be appreciated! BTW, my experience and interests have been centering on persons with developmental disabilities and related policy issues. Schools that I am applying: UT-Austin, UIUC, UMN, OSU, and UMaryland. I missed a few schools' deadline on Dec 1 so these are the ones that I am able to submit applications on time... Anyone who already received feedback from the schools?
