  1. Hey guys! I got my Yale rejection and had to spend the weekend moving (LOL FUN TIMES) so I didn't have the chance to say congrats to everyone who got an interview!! Best of luck and for all of us who got rejected, we'll keep chugging along! I'll be applying next year for sure so if anyone wants to send along their website and post about how your interview goes, that would be greatly appreciated
  2. HAHAHA oh my god. I am that possum at work right now.
  3. It's great to hear that you're still at it! Best of luck, I hope that the third time is the charm for you!
  4. Going rock climbing/bouldering because it's the only thing that truly keeps my mind off of things!! Whatever happens, we'll be okay guys! We'll keep chugging along and making art the anticipation is DEFINITELY worse than the rejection will be haha.
  5. From what I've heard, it takes a lot of people a few tries to get into Yale. The application pools are different every year and because they're curating a class with the current first years in mind, your chances are different each cycle. If you really know that you want to go there, it makes sense to give it a few shots! That's my plan anyway.
  6. Thank you for letting us know! I'm still not sure if it's more or less helpful for my anxiety levels to have an idea when we'll find out but we can last one more day
  7. I feel the same way. Trying to get some residency applications done to distract myself though!
  8. Happy early birthday and I hope you're awarded with some good news! I was relieved to find this forum as well. A lot of my friends are not artists so it's nice to be able to lament and share nervous anticipation with people. Luckily, getting an MFA is just part of the process of our lifelong careers as artists, not the end goal. We'll keep making art regardless of these application decisions. Good luck!
  9. Hey! What I posted about the Feb 1st deadline for financial aid was wrong haha. It's March 1st so at least by then we'll all know if we got interviews and will probably have had the interview by then anyways. Best of luck to you!
  10. NO and I'm dying also haha. I'll be happy to be done with the anticipation even if it means I'm rejected!
  11. Yeah sorry to have freaked you out! Other schools might have earlier deadlines but you're good still for this one. Good luck!!
  12. TBH I was wrong and thought it was Thursday but it is actually in March. That was my bad and a huge relief when I noticed it last night haha.
  13. Nothing for me yet! Although I love how it's kind of like a sick joke that our FAFSFA is still due on Thursday, right before decisions.
  14. I guess we should hope for that then! LOL. best of luck to everyone getting through the week!
  15. Did anyone else see from previous years that there would be "Schedule your ______ interview" links before the decisions came out and then they WENT AWAY? That sounds so torturous. I hope that doesn't happen to us!!
  16. NOT GOOD. I'm not helping my case by checking my application status like 3 times a day
  17. @MFAAFM It seems to be that way based in what I've read from past years, but I think that every school is a little different in how they handle it. Best of luck to you!!
  18. @cklos What did you think about Bard and SAIC for photo? I didn't look at many schools but I'll have to widen my scope next cycle.
  19. @Sylvieee I applied for Photo. The break out session for photography was super helpful on it's own. Most of the current first years were there and they, along with some of the full time faculty answered questions about applications, the experience of being a photographer at such an output based MFA program, and other general stuff about living in New Haven vs. trying to commute (impossible basically), and taking time off after undergrad before coming to grad school. What I thought was great, was how students talked about being a photographer, as opposed to having a studio based practice and how a lot of them leave on the weekends to go where they need to take pictures and what they do during breaks for their work.
  20. @Sylvieee I also noticed that you posted in the larger MFA group about visiting campus. I went to the Open House and it was actually extremely helpful. They had a panelist of 4 alums, one from each department, a session on financial aid, and breakout groups into departments. I'll sum what I learned up by saying that: 1. Your portfolio is extremely important and should show evidence of a working artist, more than one body of work is helpful. 2. They seem to want applicants who have been out of school for a while. 3. The departments work separately but intermingle a lot. 4. It's an output based program. You're not taking a ton of classes but have to be comfortable with making a LOT of work independently, which unsurprisingly, makes it super intense. I was also pleasantly surprised with how down to Earth all of the first years were. From the people that I know who have graduated from the program mentioned that there's no way to speculate your admission either. There are so many factors that go in. They're curating a class of different artists, taking into consideration the current first year students in that department already. Not getting in, is NOT a reflection of the quality of your work and a lot of people apply more than once before getting in. Hopefully that makes people feel better, I think it helps a little!
  21. @Sylvieee I'm checking things way too much too! It doesn't help that applying to Yale is basically like buying a lottery ticket. I don't have my Google Analytics set up because I know it would be me go crazy!
  22. Hi guys! I've been creeping hard on these forums but haven't made an account, but I am now because waiting turns out to be the hardest part! I also focused this application cycle on Yale because my photo professors from undergrad went there and I love all of the artists that either work there are come out of the program. I guess we've all done everything we can do and we'll hopefully hear soon! What is everyone doing to distract themselves??
