please do elaborate, you got my attention. Have you studied in Italy (I'm from Milan btw) or elsewhere? I'm doing mostly modernism ( mid 19th - early 20th century things) with an avant-garde/experimental/WWI twist, but in the past I worked as well on older stuff (including Latin poetry).

well, congratulations! so I guess you're into Dante and Renascence studies, right? I got a couple of rejections from the Ivies (bad fit), interviews and acceptances elsewhere but most importantly I received a great offer from Stanford, which will be my final destination.

nothing but a generic email informing that formal admission offers will be sent out this week. the wait is killing me, ça va sans dire, and I still am utterly jet-lagged.

Stanford was lit, although I couldn't figure out the identity of @Carly Rae Jepsen; was you the only girl among the French applicants, or just an edgy dude?

I wouldn't give it much weight, Yale is just unreasonably exclusive; in my opinion there are better options among the Ivies.

I got an invite from Austin today (and from UCLA as well). Was actually expecting rejections all the way down, I guess a man can dream at this point.

I'm an Italian applicant who has lurked this successful thread for quite a long time (and since there's no dedicated thread and our departments often work together I decided to write here). Still dead silent from most of the universities I've applied to, but I got an invitation to Stanford as well. I am really excited, ça va sans dire, and kinda overwhelmed, I guess I'll be seeing you guys during the campus visit.
