  1. Congratulations on your admit to Berkeley! Did you get funding for an MS or for a PhD program?
  2. Wow! Thanks for the very detailed explanation. Indeed my undergraduate student health insurance is about $2,500 so I've never thought that an employee's insurance can be worth $6,000 - 7,000. So it's true when my TA told me that her insurance is way better than mine, haha.
  3. A funding letter I received says "The research assistantship also qualifies you for a significant fringe benefit, which amounts to about $612 per month (the actual amount varies depending upon the kind of University-approved medical insurance you select)." $612 per month would mean about &7,500 a year and I don't think health insurance alone would worth that much. I'm just curious what the "fringe benefit" usually includes besides health insurance? Also, do we pay tax on this?
  4. I saw that note too, but from past results I would say it’s more likely to be the week after next week (the first “full” week of March). Indeed I complied an email yesterday but my friend discouraged me from sending it. I guess I will send it anyway.
  5. Does anyone have any update on MIT? I applied for MST. I checked past years' posts and the results would not come out until around 3/7. Any chance we can get our decision earlier?...
  6. I think Berkeley releases decisions pretty late. Last year I see people received notice on 2/27. By the way, does Berkeley offer any two-year MS program? On their website it looks like all MS programs are of 1-year length.
  7. Funding decision for UT Austin was released yesterday. No news from MIT, Berkeley and U Washington yet.
  8. @strawberrykat Thanks very much! So I guess since you applied for PhD you are more likely to get those unofficial notices.
  9. Hello everyone, I was just wondering how does the "unofficial acceptance from PI" thing work. So far I was only admitted to UT Austin and did not receive any unofficial notice beforehand. Do most schools give unofficial notice to admitted students?
  10. I did not apply to Stanford, but one guy applied to Stanford said that Berkeley decisions are being made this week. I'm very anxious about this...
  11. I was admitted by UT Austin. My status was updated in the portal but no one from the department has not contacted me yet. I saw in the results page that a PhD applicant was unofficially admitted by a professor at MIT. I haven’t heard anything from MIT though.
  12. I looked at last year's stats. A lot of Berkeley admissions came out on Feb 27. UT results came out as early as Jan 25. I want to get funding, but since I'm applying for MS with no intent of PhD, the hope is low... I'm doing my undergrad in Cornell. Probably colder than Northwestern
  13. Nope... My professor was a little surprised when I said that I didn't hear back yet, but he was a PhD so he should have had a different timeline than mine.
  14. Master's applicant here. Transportation applicant. Applied to MIT, Berkeley, UT, UW, Northwestern, Michigan; didn't hear back from any of them yet.
