How does the category (field) of your proposal affect your application? I applied to Germany with Engineering for research 1 year proposal but I could have chosen biomedical sciences or something else. Just wondering if it increases in competitiveness or something.

Check out the criteria in detail here. -
Come on guys, move to slack so we don't have to deal with fake notifications messing with our emotions and reverting the chat all the time.

Does anyone know when Germany will notify research and study finalists? I'm tempted to contact them inquiring about it due to an upcoming enrollment decision deadline for a Ph.D. offer of admission.
No one knows when they'll notify. Others have recommended other people in similar situations to ask for an extension and explain your situation to the university. Fulbright won't give you information early.

Ach so!

Hi all! I created a GradCafe account just to participate in this Fulbright thread!
I'm a semi-finalist for research in Germany right now! The wait is agonizing!
I'd love to connect with anyone else who applied to research in Germany!
Hi! I'm hoping to do ETA, but still like to talk all things Germany. Which Bundesländer did you choose?

Germany ETA Semifinalist.
Anyone have an idea of when we hear back? Last year no one heard back for ETA Germany until early April, which is cutting it close for Grad School acceptance stuff...
ich hasse warten!!!!!!
Könnte auch nächste Woche sein. So war es vor ein paar Jahren. Wenn ich raten müsste, würde ich 26.3. sagen haha

I'm making a copy of it now, so at least we'll have one we can keep clean. I'll play with permissions and see what the options are.
Great minds think alike haha

I made a copy to my Google Drive, so if they decide to delete the important info on the other tabs, we'll still have it.

They just did it again. Who actually owns the document? Perhaps we should just lock it.
Not sure. That would be best though. We should keep the other info and chat somewhere else.

So someone has deleted all of the posts since 1/26 (some of which had very important info for applicants) on the spreadsheet chat. Maybe we should migrate the chat to a more stable platform?

To those who are having the transcript issue, here is what I received from Fulbright:
"Hi xxxxx,
As per our conversation earlier I tried to track down your BA/MA transcript to verify your MA degree. Unfortunately, as the document was saved in our drive it has expired and we are unable to verify your degree. Would it be possible to have the registrar’s office send another copy to fusptranscripts@iie.org? Sorry for the confusion!"
If you are having this issue, you can try and contact them, but if you're about to be going on spring break and your registrar's office will soon be closing, I think it may be a good idea to go ahead and send another copy.

I received an email today saying my BA transcripts were not received. However, my BA and MA degrees were sent as one transcript because they are the same institution, and I just contacted UNC and the registrar rep said my transcripts were mailed on 29 January (by post). I ordered an electronic copy just now to be sent. I'm not really sure what is going on but it is making me extra nervous. Also, the email was sent to my secondary email address and not my primary, so I am not really sure what that is about. I should note that the email did not mention that my MA transcripts were missing nor was my current doctoral coursework transcript. Considering the MA and BA are together and my PhD work from my current institution were sent at the same time, I'm a little confused. I just emailed Fulbright for clarification.
I had this same issue. They notified me that they were missing my MA transcript, but it was part of my BA transcript document, which they did not list as missing. I also have confirmation from the transcript company that the file was read and downloaded. I emailed Fulbright and my advisor, as well as calling today and leaving a message. Hopefully it will get resolved soon, but I'd hate to have to pay for yet another transcript, as I've already sent two in this process and it gets quite pricey after a while.
