Yep--accepted the offer at Penn! Made things official last night, which also means there might be waitlist movement at Harvard, Princeton, and Northwestern. Hope that helps someone!

Those are all good schools, so look at it this way: you really can't go wrong. I hope you pick what's best for you. Good luck!

I know that feeling. I recently declined a very generous offer from SUNY-Buffalo to accept an offer at Emory. I was very torn about it but knew that it was the right choice.

Thanks! And I received an email from Emily Wilson. Very informal thing, really. I believe they're still waiting on the dean to approve admissions and supply the letters before the formal offers roll out!

Yeah, exactly! I feel supremely blessed with my acceptances thus far, and am now just waiting for them to reply so that I can at least begin to be excited about a specific place— either way is fine! I’m definitely emailing them tomorrow btw.

Wow! Those are hard questions, actually. I hope they went well! I got simpler ones: they asked how my writing sample fit into my doctoral project, for example, and how I would teach a course on World Literature if given the opportunity. Also, I work on South Asia but my personal statement was very much foregrounding a comparatist approach, so I think that's why I didn't get that Area Studies vs. Comp' Lit' question we often get. In any case, good luck, and here's hoping for the best! 

I think it’s a combination of how all the obsessed nuts like us (who would likely be be stronger candidates on average) tend to be here, and what I think is them interviewing about 15-20 for what would be 6-8 seats at most. Anyway, here’s hoping! 
 
Also, shaarawi, since everyone on here has had their interview (at least from my calculations), would you mind sharing what you were referring to as curve balls? It’s fine if you’d rather not, but I think it’s worth a shot to ask! 

I had my Penn interview today and both Emily Wilson and Rita Barnard were lovely! I'm pretty sure Penn Comp Lit' won't take more than 6-8 people (at the very most) in the end, which makes the interview stage so scary tbh.
