  1. @TheHessianHistorian I'm in a similar boat. I only applied to two MA programs. I'm choosing between a PhD at a mid-30's ranked program and a funded MA at a mid-40's ranked one. I'm not quite sure if the MA's prestige is high enough to make it worthwhile, but both are a considerable step up from my undergrad.
  2. I was waitlisted by Duke at the beginning of February. Texas seems to send acceptances around 3/6 historically. I didn't apply to the other two.
  3. @ltr317 Just wanted to update you on the CUNY situation. I've had my interview and plan to visit in March. I should have a yes or no for them by 3/20 at the very latest and possibly well before then depending on if/where I get acceptances to.
  4. I'm actually closer to eliminating CUNY. I'm an Americanist interested in Labor, Capitalism, AA, and the South. UGA is an exceptionally good fit for me.
  5. Georgia pools and places all of its applicants without Master's in the program it deems fit. I applied hoping to get into PhD, but am glad I got into the MA with a TAship instead. CUNY has very demanding teaching requirements. I've been told I'd be the IOR by third semester.
  6. On this subject, would a funded MA offer from UGA be better than a PhD offer from CUNY? Especially if UGA is particularly strong in my area?
  7. 20th-Century Americanist from the deep-south. First response is an e-interview with CUNY- Grad Center.
