  1. OK. Thank you. If you happen to hear about some shin-dig there please let me know (just in case I get off the wait-list).
  2. Did UConn happen to mention a Welcome Weekend or day and if so when is that?
  3. Congrats!! I also got waitlisted at UConn today! Very happy as I have strong interest in that program.
  4. Thank you for posting this!
  5. Yes, Lit. I've already been thinking about what to wear!
  6. Just got this email: "It is with great pleasure that I write to inform you that you have been identified as one of the top applicants to Northeastern University's PhD program in English...we are inviting a select group to campus so that they can make a more informed decision about Northeastern if they are ultimately admitted to the doctoral program" Feeling pretty good!!
  7. I've been doing some thinking and there are 2 Master's programs I could apply to quickly, as in this week--not ones I would have wanted per se, but one of them has vast opportunities for TA, research, teaching classes, conferences, consortium, and a creative writing/lit combo. The other is an American Studies. Not sure I can do the first one since I have a Liberal Arts, English concentration already. But I can't imagine not doing something!! The VOID is so scary! Haha And, congratulations again. It must have been very disheartening to apply 2X when no success. You have courage and it paid off!
  8. Yes. This 2 year journey (including taking the GRE) was soooooooo difficult and stressful and now with this waiting game/not hearing I am feeling depressed. I don't have a good feeling either.
  9. I am so sorry.
  10. Congratulations on Delaware, a very pretty state! Its great that your fiance is so supportive!! You have a stick-to-it-iveness which obviously paid off this year! That is terrific! This is my first year applying to PhD programs, and probably my only year doing so because I am older than your average bear. I have a Masters of Liberal Arts and so for most of my phd apps I indicated that I would not want the Masters; now, I am rethinking whether that was a good idea because the programs are so competitive. Sweating it out here bigtime. I have heard that you cannot get an MA in English one place and then a 2nd MA in English somewhere else, so maybe if I don't get in to the PhD my lib arts degree won't count against me and I can try for the MA. Thinking, always thinking (too much)
  11. Who was it that you emailed?
  12. Could you tell me how that interview went? Was it scary? Hard or soft-ball questions?
  13. I noticed the skype with Stony but haven't seen any results via the results page. I notice that you, LibraryLivingJT, have applied to many geographically diverse colleges. Wow! Mine are New England or NY. I was rejected from UMass, which makes me nervous because they generally take more students than the smaller schools like Tufts. We shall see. Best of luck! Are you happy with Delaware (I don't know anything about that particular program)?
  14. I applied 19th and 20th century American and Anglo. Haven't heard back, obviously. Am literally going crazy.
  15. Going NUTS waiting. Stonybrook? Why no results yet?? UConn? NYU? Boston-area? 1 rejection thus far. Waiting to hear from 9 other schools.
