  1. Let me just point out that just because someone can do something doesn't mean that it is in their best interests, that it is right, ethical, or permissible.
  2. Ah youre right. When I had called earlier I had gone straight to voicemail. I thought I remembered from a previous correspondence that they werent CST, but their answering machine states that they are. Edit: Scratch that, still unsure. In previous emails with them, the NDSEGF employees I had emailed were out of Ohio.
  3. This is a great idea. Can you share the email/correspondence you had with them so I can share similar thoughts with mine? Thank you.
  4. It is past closing in their timezone and has been for nearly an hour. Let me be clear-- my issue is not waiting for a week but instead with the lack of consideration they show for students/applicants. They have a stake in this program, and thus by damaging its reputation, they have screwed themselves over.
  5. This is so bullshit; for these types of programs feedback is important to help young scientists and engineers grow. Fine, they dont provide that. But I at least deserve a results email in a timely fashion. Its so bullshit that I both called and emailed prior to 10 am this morning and still have no result despite the April 15th deadlines. This is how you make a generation of scientists pissed off for a lifetime at your company.
  6. Are you sure? I thought the biggest difference (other than stipend) between nsf and ndseg was that ndseg couldnt be deferred.
  7. Also, I thought the program was recently extended to four years? This seems weird, according to the FAQ on the site it should be four... If its just three, I care alot less since I have NSF already.
  8. Anyone else still not heard?.... And/or for the people just receiving emails, were the time stamps all the same?
  9. I mean I got that too, but like I said, based on discussion on phone w/ Mrs. B, sounds like we should have received them.
  10. I mean here people have been receiving emails, and I called; I dont remember whether or not Barbara explicitly said it but I think it was implied.
  11. I emailed requesting my email be resent. Apparently they should have been delivered already.
  12. Please no more jokes, humor too close to home.
  13. I mean they did the same last year (said it would be sent on thursday or friday) but actually sent it out earlier. In the end, it doesn't matter much anyways.
  14. I called and theyre sticking to the "by the 13th" thing...
  15. I dont even see the april 4th post, all I see is the facebook page on NDSEG from ASEE, but NDSEG is now administered by STI-TEC so I don't even think they'd put anything there.
  16. Where would they even post it? I don't think they would.
  17. Nah I applied this year as undergrad for the first time. However, from what I know, the reviewers havent provided feedback in the past. But the application was also different before (Up to third year PhD?). It seems like you as long as you meet their eligibility criteria (1st or second year grad student? I dont remember), there isnt a stipulation about number of apps...
  18. I mean they said the same thing last year, by the 14th (Friday then). But they actually released on Tuesday the 11th. Also, the 15th is the deadline for many offers, so it'd be cruel sort of cruel to just release Friday afternoon and not really allow students time to work out some items. I think they'll release sooner, but maybe not!
  19. Anyone wana be the sacrificial lamb and call today? Ha ha ha
  20. The tenure can start during this summer?
  21. To be clear, it was my understanding that GRFP provides up to 12K a year to the school while on tenure for tuition and fees. Are you saying department has to pay charges not covered by this, or are you talking about something else?
  22. Can anyone comment on the usage of both bolding/underlining/italicizing? I have heard somepeople swear by it, but it seems unclear to bold some stuff, italicize others, and then sometimes underline. All of them are used for emphasis, but there is no rule (to my knowledge) as to which to use where. Because using different types seems like it can be confusing, I stuck to just bolding stuff within my statements for that reason.
  23. Let them know this. This process is frankly very stupid, because you never get a confirmation email when your actual application is truly complete. I had to email them to confirm this was the case near the deadline.
