  1. To be clear, two years ago there was only one alert. Just during the time of notification.
  2. Ah wait, crumbs. Youre right, I misread the posted announcement as being tonight through tomorrow morning.
  3. In my post I referenced two different years. One year I gave only a link. Click that link: "Two years ago, there was an extended shut down day of release (March 29)" Here, goto that forum, and you see that there was only one maintenance, till 6 am. The results were announced at 3am.
  4. No. Look at the first page I linked. There was only one long and extended maintenance during notification.
  5. Read the prev post closely: the announcement was made a few days prior but the actual maintenance occurred during the time notifications were delivered, and sustained for a long time. In other words, based on the prev two years, it seems like results will come tomorrow morning.
  6. Two years ago, there was an extended shut down day of release (March 29) Then last year, day of release was March 17th, According to posts on this page: 03/15/17 - FastLane will be unavailable from 10:00PM ET, Thursday, March 16 to 5:00AM ET, Friday, March 17 for scheduled maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience. 03/15/17 - FastLane will be unavailable from 10:00PM ET, Friday, March 17 to 10:00AM ET, Saturday, March 18 for scheduled maintenance. We apologize for any inconvenience." So I feel its likely to be results tomorrow..
  7. To be fair they said theyd be making changes beginning on the 26th, so likely this is related. I doubt itll have bearing on results or announcements.
  8. Pretty sure this is the case for all pools. Looking at last years results threads makes me nervous, not matter how strong or confident I am in my application.
  9. To be clear, there is a fairly informative post on stack exchange, here, that explains the application process fairly well. They split the applicants into different pools based upon status (UG vs grad, etc). So you compete against other peers within your year. This makes it fairly easier to get grfp as an undergrad, but less undergrads apply of course.
  10. If you look at my the post I made earlier, you can see that last year it decreased by like 30%, which seems pretty significant to me. But I would think it would be similar, maybe with 1-2k less this year because students previously grandfathered in are gone.
  11. Where will you be heading?
  12. They resent my email, I never found the original one. I'm sorry, these fellowships are very arbitrary and the difference between winning and losing is stupid. I do notice last year that several people that got accepted off the waitlist were people who were initially rejected.........
  13. I'm not clear as to whether the email y'all are referencing was sent long ago or not. I am in the sample place as you EllipticPDE. Please let me know what you find out.
  14. I'm doubtful theres any correlation. They will be doing maintenance twice this Month. They generally do maintenance often, it seems. I really don't think there is a correlation, its just that they do maintenance often, so of course it was near the time of notification before.
  15. When I say "this Tuesday" I typically mean the closest one, whereas I would say next Tuesday if I meant the 2nd closest one. Maybe its just poor wording. Maybe y'all are right about the maintenence, but I know fastlane is used for alot of stuff besides GRFP. I feel like there isnt a need for maintenence just to post results, so it just seems unlikely that has any bearing on the notifications to me.
  16. The comment actually said "next Tuesday." I'd bet its either this Tuesday or Friday, not next. Also, I tend to not believe reddit trolls. My money is still on Friday or this Tuesday.
  17. Fast lane is used for more than the NSF GRFP. I doubt they need to conduct maintenance on it to post any results. If you look at my previous post, I noted the decreased applicants in the previous year, which is why the notification time was so reduced (and probably we have a similar number of applicants this year, less if anything). For that reason, I would only begin worrying until at least this Thursday or Friday. Then, we can all simmer for about two weeks.
  18. I think if you look closely at solicitations and old grfp website, it seems like the first application due dates for the application were as follows: 2018: Oct 22 2017: Oct 23 (13K applicants) 2016: Oct 26 (17K applicants) 2015: Oct 29 (16.5K applicants) 2014: Nov 4 (14K applicants) 2013: Nov 13 2012: Nov 14 2011: Nov 15 2010: Nov 2 2009: Nov 3 If I was to guess, probably it'll be about the same time as last year. Also, the 2017-2018 are on the same solicitation so probably review process runs the same. This with Hurricane Irma and that Saturday-Tuesday Govt shutdown. If I was going to conclude anything, its that this type of analysis isn't super helpful or healthy ha ha.
  19. See this link to a question asked on stack exchange regarding funding. It seems that if there was a change to the funding, it wouldn't occur until next cycle.
