Hi everyone,This is my first post ever so I apologize in advance if I mess something up.I am currently applying to a couple of online MSW programs and I was given a full-ride scholarship at a place called Northcentral University. For background context I have a bachelors degree in linguistics, and I am currently working on a federally funded research project with a rather big researcher from the National Academy of Medicine (a colleague of my dad's) funded by the NIH. I also am a CASAC in NYS.I wanted to know if anyone has heard of Northcentral University. I checked and their program is CSWE accredited, and they are a non-profit regionally accredited university by WASC. I am interested in pursuing doctoral studies after my MSW, so I don't know if Northcentral University would be looked down upon, or prevent me from applying to PhD programs afterwards. Hey has anyone here thought about applying for the 2019-2020 Boren application?

I would just prefer if they emailed the non recipients of the scholarship such as the alternates to let them know that they didn't get the scholarship. Because tbh it is agonizing to not hear from them at all.

HI everyone!!! I created this thread (sorry if it's in the wrong topic) because I was curious to know if there is anyone heading to China for the fall 2018, or the 2018-2019 academic year.

Well it could be possible that Boren already distributed the rest of the awards to the rest of the alternates. It seems rather likely I would think.

I imagine so, but I also know that there still is the Spring of 2019, so it could be that they will only notify spring 2019 alternates which would make sense. I was also told that alternates would still be able to go to the convocation if they were notified in enough time (that they received the scholarship) and if there was room available.

I was told that "If you were an alternate for one of the initiatives, (AFLI, SAFLI, IFLI), you wouldn't be called up after the summer session starts in June". Also I feel like it's a bit weird that they would notify alternates AFTER the convocation in June. They've already awarded all the finalists so why would they give the award after the meeting...it just seems strange. Am I the only one?

Nope I've heard nothing yet and I'm a scholarship applicant. I was told that alternates are usually notified all through the summer up until November when they stop funding alternates.

Scholarship alternate to China!!!! Who else applied to China? Also does anyone know what the chances are of alternate's getting accepted and notified of their status?

Congrats to the fellowship awardees!!! Now I'm just anxiously waiting for the scholarship awards to go out.

My issue is that I had applied for a year and I am now not able to do a full year. I can only do a semester. What should I do? And no, I'm an undergrad scholarship applicant.

Yea I got the email for the scholarship update as well. I really do think everyone got it. My issue is that I am now only studying for a semester, and I applied for a full academic year because that's what I originally had planned to do...so I'm not sure what to do.

Hello!!! I applied for the Undergraduate Boren 2018-2019 scholarship this year!! I'm getting my Associate's in Tourism/Hospitality, but I am going on to a 4 year Uni to double major in Arabic and French with a minor in Mandarin. I applied to study abroad in China for the 2018-2019 academic year!!!

Hey has anyone around here applied for the Boren 2018-2019 scholarship, and/or Fellowships? I also applied for the Freeman-Asia, Generation Study Abroad, and Fund For Education Abroad. Hopefully we'll hear about the Boren results in April.

I wasn't accepted but I'm honored to say that I was a semi-finalist. All I can do is try again next summer. Congrats to everyone who got accepted I'm proud of you all.

I feel like for the future they should put on the application that the results will come out in early March. It's just slightly annoying to say one thing and then do another. I'm pretty sure it's complete hell though for them since they have to finalize the site placements, and the other things. So I'm not too annoyed, only with the fact that they said late Feb and now it's into March.
