  1. I found out last Thursday from my institution that I was waitlisted but I got my letter today. I scored a 12.4 on Committee 3. There's not much information to go on but I think that's a bit low to get off the waitlist. I did get OGS again this year though so at least there's that. Congratulations to everyone who got it!
  2. I'm at Western and just got an email that I was waitlisted. No email login yet though which would be nice to know what position I'm in. More waiting for me I guess.
  3. Yeah I'm a quota applicant in Ontario and me and the other person nominated in my department haven't received any emails yet. Edit: last name P, in case that matters.
  4. My school let everyone know. They definitely let successful people know first but us less fortunate were soon after.
  5. If you're not a direct applicant there's also a good chance your school will let you know your results before you receive direct communication from SSHRC. There's an online portal that the schools have access to where SSHRC releases the results. Depending on your school they might notify you once they know, I know my school does from last year.
  6. I just heard from my department's grad chair that SSHRC doctoral results are going to be released this week. Last year I was mailed a letter, but also had my school email me when they were told the results. I assume this year with everything being electronic that everyone will receive word from their school as soon as they're released hopefully.
  7. This isn’t true. You can get OGS up to 4 times, but not past your 4th year. You just need to apply for it every year.
  8. I have heard of 5 people just in my program being waitlisted (and there’s 6 graduate programs in my department). That just seems like a weirdly high amount of waitlists to me...
  9. Hi everyone! I just found out I was awarded OGS (yay!) but my friends who all had it last year were all waitlisted. I know that the government delayed confirming how many awards each school had and was just wondering if anyone heard about the number of awards being cut back this year?
  10. Hey! I don't know if there's any restrictions against this or something, but it would be really helpful to see people's programs of study who were successful. I was thinking maybe we could set up something Google Drive or Dropbox or something like that if anyone was willing to share? I've seen some older ones but it would be great to see some more recent ones. Also I got my score today. 10.6! So close for my first try! Makes me feel less terrible about myself though to know that I was pretty close. Just got to improve by 1 or 2 points next year! (Or better yet 5 and get CGS ?)
  11. Super great idea except the anxiety around waiting led to me pushing off some work I need to do for tomorrow ☹️
  12. Yeah OGS is definitely still the hope. Unless the amount of OGS scholarships allocated to my department changed I feel like I have a very good shot, a much better shot than SSHRC at least ?.
  13. I feel this so hard. When I first was going to apply I wasn’t even sure I would get out of the school, but then people I worked with in the department were telling me they thought I would get it and it definitely got my hopes up. Oh well. Always next time. And you still have hope for this time!
  14. Same here. Time to start preparing for next year I guess!
  15. Congratulations! Good to know that the mail is starting to arrive. Hopefully the rest of us (at least in Canada) get mail tomorrow or hear from our schools by tomorrow! Going through another weekend would be brutal.
  16. I think the other grad finance/scholarship person was away this week so I’m guessing Paula had some extra work... especially with the whole OGS delay. Oh well, at least we know that we’ll know in under 24 hours! Fingers crossed!
  17. Well fellow Western people. The tri-council scholarship coordinator is about to give a talk so I don’t think we’re going to be hearing today unless she sends out emails or updates the student centre right after.
  18. Same here. I emailed Paula Cameron yesterday but also haven't heard back yet.
  19. Awe man really? That probably means that we won’t hear the results until tomorrow.
  20. I was literally just about to write that I’ve lost hope for today! I’m definitely on the edge of my seat now. Also congratulations! You must be ecstatic!
  21. Yeah I know the government doesn’t like to commit to deadlines, but I feel like they release them about the same time every year within a week or so and they do already commit to the end of April, so why not just go with a set date of April 30th or May 1st?
  22. This is purely an off my chest comment, but I really don’t understand why they can’t just pick an official day they release the results and stick to it. They say the end of April anyways so why not just say April 30 (and actually release them on April 30) and we all won’t be wondering if today’s the day starting halfway through the month. Anxiety and stress related things are known issues in grad students so I don’t really understand why they couldn’t make the whole situation a little less precarious. Then we could more easily put it out of our minds until the official day. It’s such a small thing that doesn’t seem like it would be hard to implement, and it would make such a big difference... for my anxiety at least. And then an online portal for everyone. Just pop the results in there April 30.
  23. You should try asking your awards officer once the tweet goes out. I know not every school tells their students but doesn’t hurt to ask! Based on previous years’ threads it looks like my school does and they even said earlier in the year that they email you the result/show it in our online portal once they know. So I’m really banking on knowing tomorrow or Wednesday at the latest... I don’t know if I’m mentally and emotionally prepared for the off chance they don’t tell us once they get the results ?
  24. Well when I emailed and asked SSHRC they definitely said they would be sent by the end of the month so fingers crossed nothing went wrong and they’re sent out tomorrow!
